Don't worry, employment status or lack thereof has no bearing on a K1 visa!

Thank you! Hopefully we will all hear back within the next week!

Hello there! Thanks for coming over here to hang with us Junies. I'm at day 187  now, so you're a week or so ahead of me.  It's mind-boggling to me that so many people are still waiting, watching others pass them by. Yes it's great to see our friends here get approvals and move on, but at the same time, difficult to be left in limbo like this.

Best wishes and here's hoping you get your approval TODAY.  :)

I've kissed my February moving date goodbye. 😒 Tenancy agreement runs out Feb 5th too. 😑

Another month stuck in a job full of flies and the stench of dead rat.

I got curious fter reading daleguthery 's signature.

I have no idea what a CFO seminar is and do I need to do that now, or should I wait for the NOA2?

I know I said this a couple of times here already, but this waiting thing is making me anxious. Makes me wanna do cartwheels. LOL

Plus saw @John & Rose's signature, now I am very confused on what I need to do.

Basically, I just want to know if there is something I should be doing already while waiting. Just to make me feel like things are moving.

You can schedule and do the GCP right away. Only the future spouse can do this without a visa in hand. All other CFO seminars require the visa. If you are the future spouse and you live in the Philippines, schedule the GCP right away.

PHILIPPINES ONLY!!!  CFO (Commission on Filipinos Overseas) INFO - Can't leave home without it!

PDOS (Pre-Departure Registration and Orientation Seminar) is for ages 20-59.  Peer Counseling is for 13-19 years of age.

It is required to have the visa in their passport for PDOS and Peer Counseling.

GCP (Guidance and Counseling Program) is for K-1 Fiancee and IR/CR-1 spouse ONLY.

It can be a headache, but I think that half of that is based on lack of preparation and research on what is needed on the next phase of this process. A lot of people just get stuck on the K1 visa phase and completely forget that we will be dealing with the USCIS and the US government long after we get our fiancé's here and get married. And if the research and prep is not done or started from the beginning, that's where the problem comes into play. Unfortunately, the US government will be involved in our lives for at least 3 years and that's only if our fiancé's choose NOT to naturalize and become US Citizens - some may want to stay a legal permanent resident for there own different reasons. But the bottom line is, it's one thing to prove the relationship is "bonafide" during the K1 phase, but then there's the proving the MARRIAGE is real, ongoing and shared as if a normal married couple would be. So, that's more information, paperwork, pictures, time, and of course, MONEY that has to be shelled out.

And now, with the crackdown on illegal immigration and other "B.S." they will scrutinize things even more. That's why I always say to read up and research and prepare because this K1 visa phase is only the beginning.

It’s so true.

i have read up a lot, so know what’s coming. This Sunday I will be dedicating myself on prepping everything.

I am personally dreading my interview as my fiancé (USC) unfortunately has a record. I’m squeaky clean and we have known one another for over 20 years so I am nervous tbh. Worst case we just do the cr1 route.

Well, while I don't have a factual answer for your situation (unless you want to disclose to me what the offense was and how long ago - you can PM me if you want to talk in private about it), what I would recommend is that when it's time for your interview at your respective Embassy, he should be there with so that if there are any questions that they want to ask him, they can do so at that time to avoid a possible denial or rescheduling the interview in order for him to attend. Depending on the offense may determine if USCIS will require a waiver or not.

I’m in the UK, so they do not permit the USC to be present, however they do allow them onsite if they are emailed beforehand.

I'm optimistic but will see how it goes. I’ve seen worse cases been approved and lighter offences not approved, so I believe it’s purely up to the interviewer.
