Dude.  Nobody thanked God for your visa being 'late'... and if you really wanna get like that, its not late since it didn't have a deadline for your approval... without a set time, it can't possibly be 'late', so how about you take that and apply logic to your own words.

You're simply getting more rude now when I calmly asked you to respect others.

However, I wont say anything more on the matter.

I can agree with that...this is about visa information.

 

My comment was however completely necessary. We (non-catholics) were feeling bullied by the whole "jesus" talk, and I am happy we can now leave it in the rearview.

Although for the record.... You very clearly responded to Johns comment about purgatory, which had nothing to do with your visa, nor to do with thanking God.  You called him simple minded for a comment that had nothing to do with you or your visa.  I may not be his biggest fan but have some goddamn respect, especially when you quote others in your posts.

I am not a religious person at all but I do feel I am spiritual.  Maybe not an all being omni present entity but I do take a lot of comfort in my martial arts.  I live my life under the 5 tenets of Taekwondo.  Courtesy; Integrity; Perseverance; Self-Control; Indomitable Spirit.  All of these are internal and help guide me.  

 

I have no issues with anyone else's beliefs as long as they respect mine.  We all need some guidance and if religion is what they need then I hope that they embrace it with all their heart.  My real challenge is not with religion itself, it is what man has done to it.  Religion is the cause for most wars but it isn't religions fault.  It is man's manipulation of religion and believers that is the real problem.  I do not believe any religion in itself is dangerous.  I do believe that it becomes dangerous when man, for his own reasons, uses religion as an excuse to kill or control another person.  

 

I believe that man is good.  I also believe that man is easily manipulated.  I grew up ultra conservative and in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.  When I started thinking for myself I saw how "God's Word" could be manipulated to fulfill man's needs.  I love how I was brought up but only because its gave me the opportunity to see how easily man can be used as a puppet.  

 

I still have strong faith but it is in myself and the beliefs that we are all good people from different backgrounds and ethnicities.  I embrace and love our differences as that is what makes us unique.  

 

The God I believe in will always be there to help our fellow man, no matter where he is from, the color of his skin, his sexual orientation or his own personal beliefs.  We are all brothers and sisters on this crazy planet and those trying to say that they are better than anyone else are the real worry to me.  We are all the same.  We are all human beings and that, is the end of my Friday night sermon!!!  LOL

Sorry, but your comment came out of nowhere George and Roth. I'm baffled at how you made the leap, to be honest, and I study words and rhetoric for a living. You were rude and condescending and I'm not religious, by any means, but I'm not about to tell people they are simple minded because they are looking for comfort/answers in something.

As Americans, we have the RIGHT to Freedom of Religion. It's part of our Constitution. That means you can believe, if you want to. No one can stop you from believing.

 

I think you could do with some respect to the people on this forum who do believe that their higher power has something to do with their processing time.

I certainly did not mean to be rude, it just gets me when I read that some holy being decided my visa needs to wait. I definitely need to reconsider my comments if people think I am offensive as that is not my intent.

Thanks Lydia, I think you are correct that my comment was not called for. I was just reading back and I saw somebody said that it is gods plan, it is just so absurd it made me angry. god decided i should be separated from my son for so long seems so crazy to me.
