It is way too easy to get behind on here... :jest:

Couple of passive, mild thoughts. The October case .... is interesting. But in my (unproven and uneducated) opinion - it's a RFE, correct? RFE can be for anything. And doesn't necessarily mean they reviewed the entire case in full before finding it. They may have received it and noticed something pretty significant missing right off the bat. Now, if one from October gets APPROVED.... I'll worry a little bit more then. :P

I completely understand the impatience and everyone's need to vent it out a little here and there to get by. It's hard for me to keep my emotions to myself in real life, let alone online - I definitely wear my heart (and everything else) on my sleeve. That being said - I'm sure a lot of it becomes redundant to those who do not function that way, or don't feel as impatient. However, there's a very simple solution to posts you don't really care much for - scroll right past them without bothering to pause with your mouse long enough to form an opinion on it. ;) Facebook has taught me that trick quite well.

I don't consider us comparable to regular consumers such as at restaurants or retail stores, though. Could they give better customer service? Obviously. I've always felt that if you at the VERY LEAST communicate expectations to me well enough, I'll make do. That doesn't happen here. And it frustrates me to a painful end. However, this is not a regular "customer base". We are not buying merchandise or goods that keep them in business. This is the government. And to be honest, when has any government office gone over and beyond with the bedside manner? I feel like I'm walking into an old man's house at ten o'clock at night with an air horn any time I have to go to the DMV or tax office. Those people NEVER have a good day, so I never assume USCIS workers to be any brighter rays of sunshine. ;)

Håll ut, y'all.

We anticipated 12 months for the process.

As long as it is, its worthwhile

My visit is booked and even if by some miracle something changes Ill just have to book an early flight home.

I believe there are always potentials of changing interview dates dependent on consulate.

What are your opinions on the Medical, Would you book it now or wait? I understand its valid for 6 months

You can’t book your medical until you receive your case number from the NVC

I would wait. I personally will wait until the NVC is sending my case to the consulate until I set up an interview appointment and the medical.

Its safer.

I work for state government and my dad worked for the VA.  It seems most people do the bare minimum they can to get a paycheck.  Especially if they have a union.  I mean, government employees.  I hate believing that.  I hate seeing that.  I don't understand that.  And I know that not all the people at USCIS are that way either.  Some of us care very much about what we do, but are late with our work because in order to finish it we have to wait for reports or tidbits to be completed by other departments or other employees who don't care or who abuse leave time.  My dad used to go to work two hours early unpaid daily in the VA laundry just to get it habitable so he could do his job because others didn't do theirs.  And then, the consumer blames everyone including those of us who are studious.  I don't know what is going on with USCIS.  I have such a hard time with this waiting and seeing people being passed over and delayed, but I keep thinking it's because USCIS must be working on other stuff or they have extra scrutinizing to do now or something.  I like to think my government is trying to look out for my and other people's well being even if it is inconvenient.  Security is not convenient.  I know it feels better to blame someone though.  This really stinks.  I'm particularly concerned with the NVC problem that has popped up and people's files going missing.  I don't know if it helps, but when we all finally get together with our loved ones and get married, it will be all the sweeter for having gone through all this #######.  My heart is with all of you who are really going through it.  I don't think there is any malice behind any of this.  It just plain stinks!!!

Question though,

after the NOA2, what happens next?

i wait for the NVC to.. do what exactly?

do i have to wait for the case number or do i have to ask my Fiancé to follow up after a few weeks? After that.. what’s next? I looked at some flowcharts in the interwebs but i’m still a bit confused.

thank yaaaa

Start calling NVC after a couple weeks.  Eventually you will get the MNL#.  Once you get the MNL#, create and submit the DS-160, pay for medical and visa fees, schedule the interview.  Make sure you schedule the interview about 3 to 5 weeks out so your packet will be at the Embassy.  Medical is first come, first served and usually takes two days.  You can do the interview the same week as medical.

I called NVC, pleasant on the phone.

They said they’re not sure what USCIS does after approval but they seem to send them after they pile up. She laughed when I asked her if I could send some stamps to California to speed it up.

Come on USCIS! Now it’s approved you just hold it 6 weeks collecting dust?

Ive looked at other time lines to try and work out how long from NOA2 it takes to be at the final stage after interview and medical, its looking around the 224 day mark.

How much advance do they give you for the interview? Ive found that its 4 weeks notice. Is this right?

Will I have to book an early flight home?

Most of the second stage for me will be online instead of documents through the post?

Im hoping we will have some notice soon as to how quick things will happen. Ive just shed out a small fortune for flights out to the states and I hope this process is completed before I head out for a visit.

Any advice would be greatly received

You schedule your own medical and interview after you have the case number from NVC, so how long it is scheduled in advance is up to you.

The DS160 etc is online, yes.  Your medical and interview obviously in person, and the affadavit of support/documents to support its validity are taken with you in person to the interview.
