Can we be patient and understanding and still have some mulled wine?  That really sounds good and will bring back memories of my grandmother from Cornwall.

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and most of you have received good news by now. Remember no news is good news and I am sure the team are working hard to get through all of the cases by the new year.

If anyone can help with some advice,

Our NOA2 was received on 11/24/2017. The NVC still don't have a case number for us and its been nearly 5 weeks. (Ive send the I-797 over to NVCResearch@state.gov) as requested on the phone. I guess its a case of waiting hopefully only 1 more week.

My fiance has been on deployment and returns back to the U.S soon, I'm looking to book a trip out on my ESTA Visa at the end of Feb for 4 weeks as by the time we get to see each other again its been almost 9 months. Waiting on the process has been hard but waiting for him to get home has been harder.

My concerns are how quick things move from the point NVC receive the case number.

I understand my fiance will need to send an affidavit of support and other documents, anyone know of the time scale for this?

Ive looked at other time lines to try and work out how long from NOA2 it takes to be at the final stage after interview and medical, its looking around the 224 day mark.

How much advance do they give you for the interview? Ive found that its 4 weeks notice. Is this right?

Will I have to book an early flight home?

Most of the second stage for me will be online instead of documents through the post?

Im hoping we will have some notice soon as to how quick things will happen. Ive just shed out a small fortune for flights out to the states and I hope this process is completed before I head out for a visit.

Any advice would be greatly received

Wait what? How do you already have info? I got approved the 4th and have bothered calling only once because I didn't think there was a benefit. They told you it's lost?

We got approved online on December 11th and received the hard copy in the mail about 4-5 days later.

As mentioned it stated it was being send to the Berlin embassy in Germany. Which is obviously wrong.

Many people here on VJ said it’s “standard language” but I didn’t feel confident in that.

I mean if it’s being send to nvc then why send a letter stating it’s going to Berlin, which is the wrong embassy anyways since they don’t process K1 visas. Only Frankfurt does.

So I made my man call them just to find out where our file is. USCIS and NVC both confirmed that it’s supposed to be going to NVC and Frankfurt consulate After that.

When we called nobody was able to tell us where the hell our file is. Is it at uscis just laying there with all the others? Did you lose it? Is it on it’s way to nvc? Did you incompetents people send it to berlin???

Nobody knows. We put an inquiry in to find out what they’re doing with it. Funny enough even after 15 days the inquiry is still being “reviewed”

guys. Turn the computer on, enter my WAC number and tell me where the file is.

Total effort time: 1-3 minutes.

That has not been possible yet. I’m making my man call every. Single. Day.

I have never seen incompetence like this. We shall be surprised where they put our application.

Question though,

after the NOA2, what happens next?

i wait for the NVC to.. do what exactly?

do i have to wait for the case number or do i have to ask my Fiancé to follow up after a few weeks? After that.. what’s next? I looked at some flowcharts in the interwebs but i’m still a bit confused.

thank yaaaa

The NVC is a big mystery at the moment.

Has the NVC received your case yet?

This is the average time right now

uscis sending cases to nvc 4-8 weeks

nvc reviewing your case 4-8 weeks

interview stage 1-2 months depending on your embassy/ consulate.

They said to send the I-797 and call back 2nd jan

Does it take a further 4-6 weeks for the NVC to review case before sending it on to the consulate?

Yes unfortunately that is not a surprise. You have quite a wait in front of you.

Uscis is holding on to cases and no one knows why and they won’t give answers.

I personally think it’s about statistics.

They want to see less foreigners immigrating and by holding on to cases they shrink the number.

(Just my thought pls dont yell at me I’m soft)

theres nothing we can do we need to wait.

I understand there's a wait. I'm very patient. Ill call them back on the 2nd January.

I guess if it takes them a further 4-6 weeks to even process the case after they have received it, I wont be looking at an interview date before late March/early April, which is fine by me as it means I can continue with my visit to my Fiance

Yes.

12 months + start to finish is very realistic at the moment.
