The difference is, that once they recieve your case at NVC, you CAN sweet talk the call centre to simply assign your case number there and then whilst you are on a call.  I have heard of this happening alot...  Things become alot more controllable with the right attitude, and a little luck of which person answers your call.  But there is definitely more hope at that stage - they just have to receive the case first............................................ and theres the f*****g problem.

Yes, NVC usually do the job fast either way...And I can be preeeeetty convincing.

Nothing is logical about their process anymore. The only reason that makes sense is they're holding them for more security checks...Even though they were already approved...meaning they went through security checks... <_<

I sincerely hope you’re right.

From what I’ve seen on the statistics the petition usually stays at NVC 4-6 weeks until sent to the consulate.

Well I don't know anymore...Anything can go wrong at this point. Things have only been going downhill. I know we're supposed to stay positive but there's a limit to that when there's nothing good happening...You think NOA2 will be the end of the wait and they decide to do this without informing anymore or giving any reason. I wouldn't be as angry if they at least told us why...We just have to guess.

Lol yep it is!

For me, the number itself without the approved petition being sent to the consulate is almost useless.

Yes I can schedule the medical, and fill out the DS160 BUT I need the packet from the consulate In order to get the extended police background information that is needed etc. I’m also hesitant to schedule the Interview and medical because I don’t know when my approved petition reaches the consulate.

Lets ts say I get my number after 2 weeks I’d NVC receiving our case.

I could schedule medical and Interview for 2-3 weeks later.

But what if there is a backlog again? And I got my medical exam done but the consulate didn’t get my case yet. At the point of interview the medical might be too old or something. Maybe I need to reschedule and the consulate will be backlogged (wouldn’t shock me anymore).

I think I will wait until I get my case number and packet from the consulate to schedule. I’m German and from what I’ve heard scheduling shouldn’t be a problem.

That’s exactly the problem. They are waiting 1-2 months to even send them out, according to other threads and numbers.

Then, they will sit at nvc for 6 weeks at least.

All together, worst case scenario this could be another 4 month wait until we enter interview phase. Which might be another 1-2 months until VOH.

So worst case scenario this could be another 4-6 month wait until POE ( if everything goes “smoothly” (no additional background check etc))

But remember not everything will be worst case. Let’s pray for everybody here.

this just messed me up something fierce ...................................................

I highly agree. It’s one thing after another. They just don’t give us a break! Even after successful POE and marriage.... the whole AOS thing is another hurdle. But at least we get to be with our loved ones

Remember, worst case scenario.

That doesn’t mean it will be a long wait like that.

it could be really fast. Maybe 2 months. Maybe 3. But unfortunately there’s also the option of 4-6 months.

BUT it doesn’t need to be the case.

Oh yeah, we found a really great place and signed a lease for fiance to move in at start of January... thanks for remembering and asking!

Its not NVC holding the cases... its USCIS... they aren't even SENDING them to NVC for that time.  The delay (again) is with USCIS, not NVC.

Hi everyone, I found this in the New York times.  It doesn't mention K1 visa's but I can't help feel that the same slow down is across the board.

Sigh. I do believe that that is a the reason for all these delays.

But guys we will get through. And one way or another we will be with our loved ones.

it's ironic that some one with German grandparents and a wife he found from Europe is so against immigration, I guess the rules have changed now

I don't really understand the logic either...It might be far fetched but I had this thought...If they make legal immigration harder wouldn't that just compel people to go the illegal way? They are not doing themselves a favor here...

I KNOW IT IS SO RIDICULOUS I CANT EVEN !!!

I don’t understand anti immigration opinion when, first of all, the USA is founded upon immigration AND the president himself is a descendent from immigrants AND he married an immigrant.

What is going on lol.

What do you think my chances are of being in the States by April? 😳 Realistically, not optimistically.

I really want to book something for us both but I'm a bit hesitant to because if this whole mess of a process. 😒

We’re a 30/6 filer too. I don’t think we’ll be there in April. Maybe, May or June? Sad I know. 😭
