I feel you girl!! I was the same way in the beginning. I thought we'd still be able to swing a traditional wedding, but reality sort of set in. I slowly began realizing the things I was looking at, as far as venues or even just dresses, weren't possible right now. It was disappointing for sure, but at this point, I'll just be thankful to be able to make it legal and steal his last name.

Dear Lord Jesus, we ask that You would intervene in a wonderful way for OUR fiancé’s visa approval, which seems to be taking such a long time, in getting the necessary consent.
 
Lord I confess that WE ARE afraid that something will go wrong that will prevent approval from being granted, which would cause us heart-ache, and so Lord we ask that You would grant that it will go through this vetting process, without any further problems or delay.
 
Help US to trust You in this matter. My spirit is willing but OUR flesh is weak.. and too often fear rises in my heart that approval will be denied – but WE know that You are in control and pray that it will be granted speedily.
 
Help us to rest in You and allow Your perfect peace to flood our hearts, as we wait for the proper approval – trusting You to undertake - this I ask in Jesus name.

RIGHT. I feel you girl! The days where I daydreamed about a fairytale wedding, I didn't have a groom yet. It was all fantasy, and all about me, I later realized. When I met Paul and we wound up where we are now, I found myself thinking more about just being married to my best friend and our lifetimes of adventures - not so much a wedding or pretty dress. I still hope we manage to have a day to celebrate us and our marriage down the road, but your priorities definitely adjust in these types of situation. I don't have an engagement ring because I told him I'd rather use that money for this process, and what's to come. He has so much he has to cover on his end, I couldn't validate him spending money on that now. Maybe another thing that will come down the road. But I agree with you - now, all I think about is taking my mom with us down to the courthouse and calling it a day (and I include my mom because she's already made it clear she doesn't care if we get married in a cardboard box, she intends on being there. lol  )

It really does. I think that's the most stressful part of it all; it feels like there's this third person in your relationship right now that you have to base all decisions off of.

 

And his job? Yeah, he did. He committed till the end of the year. We thought that'd be enough time, and he didn't want to leave them hanging. He's been trying to find a temporary part time job in the meantime, but that's just even more stress. I hate it and I wish I could take that burden from him so bad.

Yes, and I think our wait is nothing compares to their struggle but still blame it to USCIS for our long wait !
