Thank you! Yes, they didn’t say we completely need a joint sponcer, but said that I could bring balance certificate of my account.

I sent his tax return by emails, just praying they accept and approve soonest... I want to fly March 11th...!!

As long as you got that good hint of what you need, I guess your okay! Glad you can work on by emails not visiting the embassy again and again...

And I think it depends on each couple so just FYI but I submitted copy of my fiancé's 2016 federal income taxes, W-2s and letter from my fiancé's firm by his firm's letter head with head of HR for the supporting document for affidavit of support (I-134) All of these are advices by our immigration attorney.

I guess you have shared when you are planning to fly to US on DS-160 right? If so you may want to contact call center of US Embassy in Japan that you are in hurry:)

@Minori @Naes

This is so crazy! I was also not approved, they needed his koseki ):

They also said they needed more financial documents! He brought in my 2016 tax returns, 1/2 year of pay stubs (12 of them!), and a letter from my employer confirming job and salary. They wanted my 2017 tax returns (haven't filed them yet, so I'm sending my W2s), bank statements, and proof of income.

They kept his passport, though, so hopefully it won't be a problem and all we have to do is send in the supporting documents.

Anyone having this problem with CEAC when you try to check your case status and it just doesn't load? This is after interview approval.

Yeah,it takes a while to load now.  Guess because it's near real time now.  Takes about 30 seconds to pop up.  She was just approved yesterday.

I had an interview today, but couldn’t get approved because didn’t submit my fiancé’s tax return.

He sent an email with his tax return of 2016, 2017 to Tokyo embassy I went today. I want to send them “paper” of them just in case, but 2016 one is 116 pages, need all? Hope they accept just it’s by email... and they said we might need joint support... 80 man yen doesn't seem enough for us, they said need to see.

I’m so depressed now, I should have bring proof of my savings...!! I already booked flight and wedding in 2 weeks and a couple of days..ahh

That’s why I opted to submit my IRS Tax Transcripts Direct from the IRS. No proof of employment, no savings I for, just documents straight from the US government.

I hope this helps you. Inbox if you need further details.

A few tips -- the embassy has delays in getting your packet 3 which will inform you that they "officially" have your application which will allow you to schedule your medical at St. Andrew's Hospital and interview at the consulate.

Go ahead and scheduled your medical  because they are pretty backed up in Kingston (when they ask you what date your interview is just give a round about date that your interview is going to happen and this will get you soonest available appointment) Call 876-926-7401 -option 3 to schedule

I have also attached form that needs to be filled out by beneficiary and brought to medical

Packet 3 - I have attached the generic form the embassy will send you.

Once you see ready in the CEAC tracker you can also contact the embassy via email with an inquiry regarding status of your application at KingstonIV@state.gov. Reference your case NVC case number in email and write a succint email:

Dear Sir/Madam:  The online status of the above referenced case shows it is at the consulate and ready for interview scheduling.  Beneficiary has not yet received any notifications.  We kindly request the instructions for next steps so he can prepare for and schedule his interview.

When they respond to you the email will serve as an official document that you can use as proof that they sent you an appointment letter.

Documents you need include for financial support paperwork in addition to evidence of ongoing relationship, and Affadavit of intent to mary

Get police record if you have not --can take up to a week.

You will also need a statement of no impediment to marriage (a notarized document from the ministry of justice saying nothing is holding you back from marriage like a non-finalized divorce) --this can take up to several weeks  to obtain so I recommend  filing for this certificate ASAP

You can go to the CEAC website and use your case number from NVC to fill out the non-immigrant DS-160 form which will allow you to schedule an interview at the embassy.

Please try not to stress.

Do not hesitate to inbox me if you need additional help.

Interview today. Visa approved!

My experience:

The MLC building where the Sydney U.S consulate was easy to find, 5-10 minute walk away from Wynard railway station.

So before my interview I had some brekkie on the bottom levels of the building. They have a whole variety of restaurants/cafes where they have good food/coffee.

Made my way to level 10 and took out my packets, my wallet and clear water bottle, as well as switched off my phone, and my smart watch.

The security person will check that your devices are off before sending you inside to the desk. At the desk, the person asks for your passport and checklist, and reads out the checklist so you can hand the papers to them. They will compile it into a folder. They will also open up your sealed medical report if you have it on you.

I had to go photocopy my Japanese police check (lived there for a year), as it was in a sealed envelope addressed to the consulate so I wasn't allowed to open it. They gave me my compiled package and I went off to photocopy which is on the same floor as the consulate.

I came back and went through security. They have 2 trays. The blue tray is where your paperwork goes and anything else you're taking with you. They make you take a sip of your water just to ensure it's water. The red tray is where your phone and other electronic devices, plus any wires (charger, earphones etc) go into. They go through the scanner thing, and you also walk through the scanner door thingy. They then put your belongings from the red tray into your bag, and place the bag into a pidgeon hole. They give you a card with a number on it that is associated with the pidgeon hole.

You then take a seat until they call you up to take the elevator. There will be a person in the elevator accompaying you to the 57th floor. Once you step out of the elevator, you take the step to the right and they tell you to pull the door to go through. I took a number and just waited to be called.

The first time they called me was to collect all my paperwork and double check. I had to go back down to security as I needed my second passport photo which the front ladies did not take out when compiling my file which was annoying. There were also a few others with me who had the same problem and came down with me as well. Went back up and gave it to the officer. He took my fingerprints, told me to sit back down and will call me for any further information if needed.

While I was waiting I was listening to a few others in front getting interviewed. Some getting approved, some missing paperwork and others not having the right police check (AFP is the correct one).

The second time I got called up was my interview. He said the oath which I agreed to and took my fingerprints again. He then asked me some questions.

- how did me and my fiance meet?

- have you visited the us?

- when was the last time he saw you?

And then told me I was approved! I got all my original documents back as well as my papers. They kept my passport.

So I should be getting my visa back real soon. I plan to fly on 10th March. 😊

It will only say Ready on the CEAC tracker once it has been received by the consulate--if it says in transit it has not yet received the embassy. Please update your timeline so that I can others can provide more helpful information to you. I would also have your attorney send an email on your behalf as I have recommended in an earlier post.

That's why its so frustrating it does say ready. "Your  case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate..."  But we haven't received any packages or appointment letter. I'm getting really anxious and nervous that we're going to miss a deadline.

It's bad that 2017 and 2016 tax timing is right now...

theyll just wait for the documents so theres there's no problem with the case. No worries
