@Naes

More Japan info! :)

Fiance had his medical on Friday of last week, same day as @Minori, at Seibo Hospital. The whole process was really smooth and the entire thing only cost 26,000 yen.

It was 15,000 for the checkup, 5,000 for his vaccines (I think he needed two), and 4,000 for the flu shot since he hadn't taken it. With tax, it totaled to 26,000!

We were prepared for it to cost a lot more, so that was nice.

It took about 2~2 1/2 hours to complete the whole thing,  but they asked him to stay in the hospital for the whole three hours. He was there from 8 am to 11 am.

Since our interview date is on the 26th of February, he opted to have the results sent to his home instead of going to pick them up.

We also got our packet in the mail right before the medical, which was lucky, even if we didn't need it. Apparently we forgot to update our old address where we were living, so it took a little bit for the mail to be redirected to his current house. Woops. :P  With that goof-up, it took 8 days for the packet to be mailed to us from the NVC tracker saying "Ready".

Hope that helps!

No worries! Obviously, every case is different but that's how long it took for us. Granted, our case was outside of the dreaded 6 months they quote at USCIS, so maybe this accelerated my case? x

so I was expecting at least 50.000  intotal!!

Btw, you don't need the packet for the medical? What can you show if you don't have the paper from the embassy?

No problem! :))

Wooow, 40,000 for one person?! That's crazy!

No, both Minori and I called but all they need is that letter from the NVC that you get emailed to you once your case has changed to "ready". It looks like this:

=========

Dear XXXXXXX,

The National Visa Center (NVC) received your fiancé (e)’s/spouse’s approved I-129F petition from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). NVC will now forward the petition to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in Tokyo, Japan. Please note that the transfer process can take several weeks. The U.S. Embassy or Consulate will contact your fiancé (e)/spouse when they are ready to process his or her petition.

Next steps:

Go to our website http://nvc.state.gov/k1 to learn how to apply for a K visa and prepare for the visa interview.

Please keep the following information for your records:

Case Number:                         TKXXXXX

USCIS Receipt Number          WACXXXX

Principal Applicant:                XXXXX

Petitioner:                                XXXXX

Interview Location:                 Tokyo, Japan

Post Address:

U.S. Embassy

1-10-5 Akasaka, Minato-Ku

checked CEAC this morning. it's working now and the status is now 'Issued' (interview was on Friday). Quick turnaround. Happy now. will be booking the tickets today

Thanks everyone for their help and support. Good luck to all of you, who are still waiting. Don't lose hope.

Hey Kannan, how many days did it take after the interview to have the visa issued? Sounds like you went in for the interview on Friday and the visa was ready on Tuesday. Is that correct? How in advance did you book your interview? Appreciate all the help. My fiancée has an interview scheduled for March 16. It was the earliest date available..

I am going on 8 months now so this is why I am so anxious...

They received our case on May 5th but I still have hope that everything goes well after this...
