LOL...

The only ones that are still waiting are me, @JohnAna05823, @Maria1989, @TeeSam, and I think @NateAndJessica.

Just the lonesome 5 squad! Hopefully, something "magical" will happen this week. @JohnAna05823...I put my bet on you being the next to get your approval since you're the only one that actually has had their case "touched" and reviewed" once!

I hope we all do! I still can't submit an inquiry until February 15th so really they have another week and a half.  Of course then it's a "give us 30 days to respond".   It will have definitely been a year since we all filed now by time we finish (Approval in February, two months for NVC then another month for scheduling interview)!  Just ridiculous!

Try calling USCIS and speak with Tier 2 to submit your inquiry. Last week when I tried to submit another online the website didn't let me submit it because I had to wait 30 days, but the Tier 2 rep was able to submit for me; although he claimed I would be waiting 2-4 weeks for a response. Hope that works for you!

I'm still waiting on the Ombudsman to respond which I guess would be sometime next week.

How do you call?  Everytime I've called I've had to use the "don't remember case number" to get through to someone.  Is there a better option?  What did you say to get to a tier 2?

I call the normal way and type in my case #. After the recording says it's normal about my current status of my case, I press option 3 to speak with a rep. Tier 1 comes on the phone with their normal "reading from the script" mess. After they do all their verification, they will ask you if have a pending inquiry, tell them you don't. Then, after they ask how they can help, simply say, the processing chart has updated again as of last week (last Tuesday), which now shows that as of November 30th, you guys are processing cases up to June 27th which still put your case outside of normal processing and you would like a status update. After Tier 1 does their "normal scripted' jargon, explain to them that you are requesting your call be escalated  and you want to speak with a Tier 2 rep. Depending on the Tier 1 rep, they might try to give you some push back but keep being forceful. Tell them that you understand that you have to wait for them to call you back and you want to be transferred so you can be put into their callback queue. But keep informing them that your case is way outside of normal processing you need an updated status and need your call escalated.

Being stern and forceful is the way to go! Good luck!

Hi my friends in VJ,

Just to share you that I got approved at American Embassy in Tokyo today on K-1 visa!!

Interviewer said the visa and my passport will be sent to my place in Tokyo in a week or so but will find ticket to SFO end of Feb.

Here is the details I can share on interview flows.

My appointment of the interview was 10:30am and the letter from embassy was mentioning to arrive 15 min earlier but I went there like 9:50am and was no issue entering the door. First come first served anyway.

There are three times your number will be called:

1.Application document submission

2.Finger Prints

3.Interview

The question I was asked on the interview were pretty much straight forward such as:

1. Where and how did I meet with my fiance

2. When is the first and latest timing I met with my fiance in person and where did we meet?

3. Have I ever met any family of my fiance

4. When is my fiance's birthday

5. What made me decide I get married (describe why I thought is the right person)

6. How many times have I visited US after I met my fiance

7. Did my fiance came to Japan before?

The interesting question related to above 1. was I actually get to know him online first but the interviewer asked me which specific matching site or apps which was kind of bit embarrassing but I answered straightly lol :P

And for the tips for the interview, be sure to be specific on the date (when did you last visit US or his birthday) which should make the interviewer feel confident. He is taking memos to input to the PC real-time on what you answered. Also, the interviewer didn't ask me but I self brought the photos of my fiance + my parents, his parents, his sister's family photos (printed the color photos on A1 paper)  and showed the interviewer directly but I recall he made decision when I showed those photos so don't hesitate to bring those:D

FYI-

@Naes, @Minori , @watahana87

Hope you will get your approval soon too!!

Congratulations!! Very exciting!

This was very helpful! :)

Do you know if you can do the interview in Japanese? My fiance does speak a little English but his Japanese is much stronger.

Unfortunately USCIS in it's brilliancy has written in some I-797 letters that "your petition was  sent to NVC" and in some letters that "your petition was sent to embassy"

However from what I understand all petitions must go to NVC and haven't heard of a single case where a petition was sent directly to the embassy. Someone please correct me if I am wrong here. I would call NVC again and insist that this is against K1 visa process and the info you have received is incorrect

Do you know what's the meaning of this email? I'm about to loose my mind.

I don't have a sample, but this is a pretty simple form to fill. What's seems to be a problem?

I would say that means your case has not left USCIS yet. To wait until NVC gets it. It took about 2 months for some, 10 days for others.. We can never know.

Your petition is already approved tho, which is a good thing ! Good luck and let us know when you have news ! Courage ;)
