The hard copy of my NOA2 came in the mail today. A few interesting things I've noticed.

The text says "The above petition has been approved. We have sent the the original visa petition to the Department of State National Visa Center (NVC)...."

Noticed the past tense? But we know it takes around four weeks for papers to get to NVC

Also "If you have not received any correspondence from NVC within 30 days, you may contact the NVC..."

But when you call them, they tell you it can take up to 6 weeks?

Is the language on this form is from good old days when 30 days was safe bet for them?

NOA1 - May 22

NOA2 - Dec 1

NOA2 Hard copy received - Dec 6

NVC received - Jan 18

NVC Case # assigned - Jan 29

Embassy receives documents (NVC status is READY) - Jan 31

Medical Exam - Feb 21

Interview - Feb 27

long wait due to government incompetence realized in 2 month testing for TB

POE - May 22

The real number is probably less than this tho, lots of people got it without a notice.

even in March case received shows 1300+ but that's just because of update problems believe me.

True. No notice for me also.

Oh God... I think someone posted this thread earlier, but I didn't dig too deeply at the time... for those waiting between NOA2 and NVC received check this thread out:

If you check the timelines of the people who were posting back in 2014, a lot of them waited 3-4 months for it to reach NVC... literally what in the world.

Almost 3 months: http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=193441

3 months: http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=193297

Just shy of 4 months: http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=188518

The only comforting part about finding this is that all of these people were eventually approved, as we will be also. But it'd be really nice to know if we are about to experience similar wait times as these people did, or if we are just a few days away. It's really the uncertainty of WHEN all of this will happen that makes all of us crazy.

So I’ve read the first few pages of that thread and to summarise

- some numpty sent the cases to the NRC not the NVC during that period and they were bound by a 6 week wait before their enquiry was taken seriously.

- advice is to keep calling the USCIS and insist on speaking to a Tier 2 rep.

- find a good bottle of wine to drink yourself through the wait!

- @alik just made a good point, that the NOA2 states it ‘has’ been sent to NVC (past tense). Maybe that’s the word to play on during your enquiries between USCIS and NVC?

Important notice

if you wait too long and not sure if you can schedule the interview before NOA2 expires: either ask uscis to reapprove, or embassy to extend..

this is important. Your whole thing may go to waste if it expires, they don't care if it's their mistake.

I hear you. If we had all the people who are not updated it would look like a better map for us..

Did anyone call NVC today and get any answers?

I just got off the phone with nvc. He "droned" the typical "6 weeks" response. However I did ask about what happens after 6 weeks when you still have not received the Case#. He said they investigate but no more than that. So I called back and spoke to someone else. She said after 6 weeks they will look for the NOA2 approval, find it, then assign it a case#. She made it sound like it happens quickly. This I do not understand because I swore I read here that someone is past 6 weeks.

Yep it was 6 weeks and they finally received it and nvc asked for 2 more weeks to assign a number or something

NVC is just a processing center or "middle man" I think. It's like sending your mail to another city/state/country and it goes to a hub first before being delivered. imho of course.

Mine already says that papers were sent to NVC, so the difference in the language is not because of the form revision...

have not idea why some forms say "Consulate" and some "NVC"

At the end of the day I don't think this matters though
