Congrats Shoey, mine also was received today, I called yesterday and it was not there yet, evidently they got a batch today. If anybody deserves good news it is you. Thanks again for all you do here. Once we are all married we have to have a May filer reunion!

you can do your DS-160 now or even 30 days ago if you haven't already. No need for MNL (NVC) they don't ask for it on DS-160

USCIS might be catching up on their backlog. I just called NVC and found out they received my case on January 15th. My NOA2 approval date was December 8th. So it took 38 days. Now it's time to call every night after 8PM (usually when you call after 8 there is no waiting) to get my number.

I am with you on that my friend. I always have better luck and less wait in the evening hours

You can work on it together.

The questions are directed to her however.

She must also be the one who signs it at the end (presses the magic button)

And to those who say get an immigration lawyer, I have one from the start of this process and he has done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING except collect his fees. If I ask him any questions via email(he has never answered his phone) he gets very rude and defensive. He is totally unprofessional and has not helped in the slightest. I am the one sending service requests for my case being outside of normal processing time and I have been the one to call USCIS weekly to try and get an update. I would never recommend anyone use a lawyer for the K-1 visa process. Its a waste of money.

Expand

Agreed !  The forums have a plenty of posters commenting on the mistakes and omissions their lawyers make in filing their cases. The same kind of mistakes we self-filers make.

It is my opinion, Lawyers are a waste of money when filing initial visa applications...I would be willing to bet you the lawyers make mistakes at the same statistical rate as the rest of us.

In fact, i bet they might even make more mistakes because they lack the self interest investment we self-filers have from the start.  For most of them , its  just another form to file...for us its a step towards our future.

Using a lawyer can be more convenient  but not always

Having a lawyer DOES NOT improve the odds of approval ... and if its a lazy lawyer it  INCREASES  stress levels for the people paying said lawyer. LOL

May i suggest  you look your attorney up on the internet and  post as many "reviews" of his services, actions ,and helpfulness as you can.

Don't be emotional, or nasty in your reviews...Just review the FACTS rather than emotions surrounding the facts..(wait until your case is closed or his lazy behavior might worsen)

I wish you a speedy approval to come.  Hang in there mon ... there be light at the end of that tunnel.

One week is all I've been seeing.  It is only a two day process and can see on the st Luke's website.  I plan to do it Monday and Tuesday with consulate following Monday.  CFO in between the two.

what did you register for at CFO ? I thought that was done AFTER visa approval....can it be done before the interview?

Well finally an update here.

We were EARLY May filers.

It took a good 6 months for NOA 1

NVC number took all of 8 days back then

After that came her interview.

Due to my prior past petitions it was held up at the Embassy in Manila.

Well 2.5 months after interview here visa went from , READY, Application Received , Admin Processing and the day after AP it went to ISSUED.

Still can't believe it 8.5 months.

Thanks to all here for your support.

Too many to list them all but @mcs , @Keith & Monica, @geowrian, @Trinab80 (welcome back hope your battery is recharged) @vml @Greenbaum @John & Rose (your NOA 2 has got to be soon) and of course @Shoegum

She will be here before Valentine's day.

Try www.cheapOair.com  I thought that web site was a joke at first but it's the real deal

Good luck to you all.

Steven.

Wait 5 business days to begin calling. It's rare that your case will have a case number till after 10 bus days. I bet 10 business days will be the norm.

NVC received our case yesterday January 17th, no case number yet though ^_^ I guess they must have received the shipment later in the day. Looks like things with NVC are getting better so maybe those of you that are still waiting for approval won't have to wait longer :jest: I  hope everyone gets NOA2 soon
