Well I call the NVC Friday after work and FINALLY, we got our case number which leads me to believe they had the case for a while and just assigned it the number that day. I called earlier in the week and they stated they did not have the case. My understanding is it takes a few days to get one's number following the NVC receiving the case. Hopefully, I can get by dear here within a month. I think we were at 56 or 59 days from NOA2 to NVC case number...hang in there folks, and yes, I have updated the spreadsheet. Good luck guys...keep the prayers or tears or whatever works for you comin', your time will come...this waiting is so hard though and I will never forget the inefficiency of this process funded by our tax dollars.

CONGRATS!  Don't forget to add the new info to your timeline....

NVC received our petition from uscis last week hope we get case number from NVC today......

As for the inefficiency of this process funded by tax dollars, i read somewhere that little tax dollars are involved and the entire process is funded by the fees we as applicants pay..This was one of the the reason used to raise the fees for the forms we file. The higher fees were supposed to address the  across the board backlogs.

Government! GOD help us all....:)

Our case status changed to ready today in CEAC. Really didn't expect it so soon. We originally scheduled the interview 1/29 to give NVC enough time to send, but it only took like 7 business days to show ready (NVC receive date 12/28) but we're gona try to do it sooner.

How did you schedule an interview before it was "ready"?

You can hedge your bets and schedule it online before status says "ready", at least in Manila. The online appointment scheduler only requires an NVC case number and a payment receipt, so we just locked in a date a few weeks in advance and assumed it'd be there in time.

I was thinking that they must be doing something to those petitions after they're approved..They can't just be sitting there for nearly 2 months can they? Like you, I'm wondering what they are working on when they took 6 months to approve it...

I'm assuming every petition that's been delayed to NVC is "being worked on" at CSC...Without us even knowing...

Can you please provide the email to contact NVC?our case was approved since Nov 15th and still no news from NVC,at this point I don't know what to do. This is so nerves wrecking😳😢

You can send an inquiry asking about your case status from here - https://secureforms.travel.state.gov/ask-nvc.php

And since you're past 6 weeks of waiting, you should email a scanned copy of your NOA2 to nvcresearch@state.gov

Please fill this out with your information. There are instructions on about the nvc research thing on the right.

nvcresearch@state.gov but if you call them and they don't have it, call USCIS and force them to escalate you to tier2. my tactic was to act all nice and concerned and tell the officer I was worried where my petition was because I'd read online some people got sent to the national record center instead of the national visa center and ask them to put eyes on your petition and tell you where it is. they very much have that capability.

what happens if your pre scheduled interview date arrives before the embassy receives the file? oe before NVC sends it? can you easily move the appt date back if you see that its not sent from nvc yet?

You can, you can reschedule up to twice without issue. We left almost 5 weeks space in between to allow for time to do medical, visit family, finalize affairs etc etc, but even 3 would probably be fine it seems. We moved ours up by a week without issue

Congrats on your case number!  NOA2-NVC was my fiancee and my most stressful stretch yet.  I've been trying to find the same information here as well.  From the timeline it looks like NVC processing is taking ~7 days right now, once processing is done the status you check here: https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx will change to in transit or something like it.  In another ~3 days, it looks like it makes it to the Embassy.

The next thing to fill out is the DS-160, you can see an example of it here: https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/PDF-other/DS-160_Example.pdf

In preparing your DS-160, you'll also need the following items:

* Passport
* Travel itinerary, if you have already made travel arrangements.
* Dates of your last five visits or trips to the United States, if you have previously travelled to the United States. You may also be asked for your international travel history for the past five years.
* Résumé or Curriculum Vitae - You may be required to provide information about your current and previous education and work history.
* Other Information - Some applicants, depending on the intended purpose of travel, will be asked to provide additional information when completing the DS-160.

I'm trying to find out more information as well, I was able to dig up a lot of information about the DS-160.  I know we also pay for something and we might be able to book the background check and medical exam already, but not too sure about that yet.

Yes thank you so much :) I have completed the DS-160. Do you know when the fee is to be paid? Is it after I receive the packet from my local embassy or when I actually go to the interview? I thought it was included in the ds-160 ?

So got case number today  .. and thru nvc website i think im suposed to chose an agent..form ds-261 then file ds160 for my fiance? or do they require that he actually do it on his end in manila?

or is it  the ds-160, who ever does it, is filed first, then chose an agent and then pay fees...Lord give me clarity. I thought i had an understanding of how this works but after all this waiting...and reading im still clueless. i want to hedge and get a jump on things but i DO NOT want to ####### it up.  :) P.S...i can not believe they sensored the word, Starts with B, for little green balls of mucus you dig out of your nose.  lol

Since I forgot to call on Friday, I called up NVC this morning. They did not have my case.

Called up again just now which is NVC 6pm EST time. THEY FINALLY HAVE OUR CASE.

No NVC case number though, apparently takes up to two weeks to process.

But finally, they have it. 58 days since NOA2.
