Just read this story and it made me think. $21 for groceries per week. That must be quite a struggle.

I cant live on 21 dollers per week coz, my body needs starbucks and chineese food. now if starbucks would drop their prices- I suppose I could survive.

Neil and I spend $35-50/wk on groceries and always have lots left over. If you're creative, have a lot of the staples such as flour, sugar, rice, potatoes, onions, spices etc. you can make tons of things on a small budget. On Sundays we always have my parents, grandparents, and sister over for dinner too.

We eat lots of beans and tortillas during the week with plenty of fresh salad/ vegs , and then barbecue usually a lot during the weekend like chicken and less expensive cuts of meats. I doubt that our budget is under 21$ / wk though.

We spend about $50-$75 per week on groceries. My son's friends hang out in the house after school and I always try to have food around the house for them.

I don't really know what we spend on groceries a week. It's a heck of a lot more than $21.00 / person, though. We like fresh foods and stuff that's good for us - which just can't be had for 3 bucks and change a day. But then, I work for our groceries and don't have the taxpayer buy my groceries for me.

Hm, I bet we spend at least 100 every week for the both of us. Not counting eating out, which we do at least twice a week.

We like fresh foods and stuff that's good for us - which just can't be had for 3 bucks and change a day. But then, I work for our groceries and don't have the taxpayer buy my groceries for me.

same here. but i wll check with Ana. we do try to prepare meals at home. mostly simple meals with fresh veggies. so it should not be much. food items we generally buy from costco(meat, some veggies/fruits, cereal) and a food mart(mostly veggies/fruits and other items that is best not bought in bulk). We love going to farmer's market. but dang, it is a like a 30 minute drive.

I never thought we were the big spenders when it comes to groceries but I would estimate we spend at least around $75-$100 each week on groceries. We eat a lot of fresh produce (fruit and veggies) and we love variety. If we had any health foods stores in our area I guess the bill would be even higher as I would shop there for most things then. But then I don't have a fixed budget, and I'm not forced to look out for cheap alternatives.

I just would imagine a diet on a budget of as little as $21 a week would be really bland and not excactly healthy. I mean you can't eat rahmen noodles every day....

I also wonder if the $21 include cosmetics products/toiletries.
