Just a comment and feel free to respond with similar comments if you wish.  Little over 9 months our N-400 has been received.   In line for interview since 4/17/2017.  Finally I was allowed to put in a inquiry on line on the status.  Guess what, they said I can expect an response about my inquiry in about 30 days.  9 months in waiting, now another month to get a response for an inquiry (email).  There should be no excuse for this.  People say their backlogged and very busy, well that is not a legitimate excuse.  USCIS is like any other business, if they are growing and business is doing great, than what normally does businesses to, yes, they hire more people to handle their increased work load.  USCIS does not do this.  Also, they take your fee upfront without receiving a product for that fee.  Like most businesses they do not take your money from your debit or credit card until your product is shipped or received.  Also, the Seattle Field office office hours, to see people are very, very short.   8 am. till 3 p.m. and two days a week 8 a.m. till 12 noon.   I mentioned this before and people defending this wonderful agency says yes, but they are still working in the office.  Well that is also not a legitimate excuse.   People pay high fees and wait a tremendous long time, so USCIS employees can have their vacations, holidays, good medical, etc.  No body out here in Visa Journey land can convince me that particularly in my wife's case it takes 9 months and longer to be called into a 15 minute interview, not to mention if she fails has to wait another 3 months to retake the part of the test she might of failed.   If there are any comments out their I welcome them, but, in my mind, there is no defense for USCIS to drag their feet especially when people need jobs and they can hire more help to handle the so called overload.   Thank you

I waited for my interview 2 years and 7 months. Filed Law suit and did everything in my power to get interview.

There is nothing you can do but wait, How long wait? No one knows.

Her file might be sitting somewhere on one of the FBI agent desk, when ever he/she decided to final it, its upto him

Nothing will help, and all you can do is wait.

I spoke to someone from a congressional office regarding Seattle. Apparently the Seattle FO is especially backlogged with an average of 10 months or so to get an interview. The reasons given were that a lot of senior immigration officers that could adjudicate cases retired with Obama leaving the White House and that with the federal hiring freeze, they are unable to hire new immigration officers and train them. In addition, with the new orders requiring that AOS need in-person interviews, that will exacerbate their backlogs as well.

You should call your Congressional Representative to get them to look into this. I highly recommend Rep. Jayapal's office.
