Along that line, a sock-puppet account has been banned, and draconian action has been taken against its creator.  Trying to circumvent a suspension by creating a new account is absolutely prohibited and will incur highly unpleasant consequences.

As specifically to the Roy Moore item, the thing that would trouble me if I were an Alabama voter is that if he is a pedophile, where are the recent allegations?  Almost 100% of true pedophiles are incapable of being rehabilitated and continue to prey on the young (boys and girls), but instead all the Moore allegations to my knowledge are 30-40 years old.  Many people often joke about the type of male female relationships that occurs in places like Alabama, Arkansas, West Virginia, etc., so could this be an instance where there was a general acceptance of these types of relationships in Alabama 30-40 years ago?  Otherwise, Roy Moore is one of the rare examples of a rehabilitated pedophile.

Couple of things:

 

1. The idea that "100% of true pedophiles are incapable of being rehabilitated" is a huge assumption. Show me the actual evidence to make that point. It is anecdotal at best. Furthermore, even if they can't be completely "cured" of their inappropriate thoughts/attractions, that doesn't mean that 100% of pedophiles continue to act on those thoughts/attractions. They can be redirected. We can't know what goes on inside a person's head. We also don't know what he has at home to continue to pursue any taboo interests (does he have a stash of child porn? I have no idea).

 

It also isn't a very effective argument, in my opinion, to claim innocence by saying you haven't been caught in a set period of time. That doesn't mean you weren't guilty of what you did 20+ years ago. I for one would be glad if he hasn't done anything since then, but that doesn't make him innocent.

 

Bottom line - He doesn't have to be a "rehabilitated" pedophile. He may very well still be a pedophile, he has just (for a variety of reasons) been successful at redirecting urges/interests in ways that don't involve targeting underage women. Or perhaps he has just lost interest in his old age (happens to some men).

 

2. The accusations against Moore aren't a problem just because they are underage girls. That is a big issue (and despite laws or customs in Alabama, most educated experts don't believe a child that age is capable of providing true consent for sexual acts, and obviously parental consent is not sufficient in these situations). Even if they were all 18, he was accused of sexual harassment, assault and rape.

I'd also point out that technically there are distinctions within "pedophilia" and if, as the evidence suggests, he only ever was attracted to post-pubescent women who have reached or were close to reaching full secondary sexual characteristics then he would not be considered a "pedophilia".

 

Pedophilia medically more accurately refers to attractions to pre-pubescent children. Hebephilia can refer to intermediary sexual development (The early adolescent age group). 

 

To be honest I didn't know if there was a name for sexual attraction to late adolescents. Apparently there is, though I've never heard it used - Ephebophilia

 

Bottom line - When you talk about how pedophiles can't be rehabilitated, that is generally referring to those with true psychopathology, which is usually reserved for people who have an interest in much younger children. Unless you can reference a study to suggest otherwise.

Well I wasn't the first to use the word "Pedophilia", and I only mentioned the other ones with a clear definition for each one in English.

 

I was merely pointing out that by definition Moore wouldn't be considered a Pedophile. The claim that "pedophiles can't generally be rehabilitated" wouldn't necessarily apply to him because he isn't one (he isn't alleged to be one at least).

Thank you for info I did not know that. But I see my assumption was correct overall even though my delivery needed some work. I will take that into consideration for future dealings on here.
