Hey guys I applied for my K1 visa from Canada to the U.S. January 24th, 2017. May 1st, 2017 It was approved.

It was sent to the NVC and from there to the embassy/consulate on Montreal in june. In july I sent all requested documents and Packet 3 and DS-160 to the Embassy.

The same day I received an email saying it takes at least 8 weeks for status update and that I should not request an update until then. It has been 18 weeks sense july 28th.

When i check the status as immigrant visa it says "ready" when i check as a non-immigrant it says "no status". I have not received any paperwork in the mail nor by email

regarding when to take an interview or when to take my medical exam etc...

Any ideas?

Thank you in advance.

You should definitely contact them for an update.  As you probable know, the K-1 visa is a non-immigrant visa, so it is strange that your status is showing under the immigrant visa query and not the non-immigrant visa query.

It's only valid 4 months after your NOA2 date.  Have you contacted anyone about making an appointment? If not they may have thought you abandoned your application and sent it back!

Of course leave it to our government to make no sense.

When you go to the CEAC site above  you click under "non immigrant" (check my visa app status)

Then once you click on that link you have to click to change the visa type  from the default Non-Immigrant to "Immigrant" (IV) and then input your NVC number and then enter the random  code for "i'm not a robot"

At this point I would be picking up the phone and calling the US Embassy in Canada and asking them what to do next.

Thank you everyone for the replies.

The specific reason why I didn't contact them is because the last email I received says that they will be mailing me packet 4 and then notifying me on when to schedule my interview not me... I am not supposed to schedule without the packet 4 or without their consent...?

Their local office is open 8am-11am... i've emailed them but have not been able to reach them by phone...

It’s been too long. Also, you said your K1 got approved, that’s a misinterpretation as to what got approved was your petition to request K1. That might be mistake one if you’re trying to find information out, they’re not gonna know what you’re talking about. Your petition is probably not good anymore, and you’re gonna have to contact USCIS to get a new one. I would call the embassy ASAP with your NVC number and see what they have to say. But I’m gonna say because it’s been too long they probably thought you abandoned it and it’s been sent back to USCIS. You could check USCIS website with your WAC number and see what it says there. If USCIS received your petition back it should be listed there. But the way things are nowadays with USCIS I’m not so sure they’d have it updated. Start with the embassy and go from there.

Try entering your WAC number to see if there is any indication that it was returned to USCIS.

Even if it was they may not update the system but worth a shot.

Get calling that  office at 7:45 am tomorrow otherwise.

That's how it looked for me too. All was fine.

No because i haven't received packet 4 or authorization to schedule an interview. The last email i received specifiacally states to not schedule an interview without them notifying me that they are ready for me to interview.
