I-864 Joint Sponsor?!

Hi,

 

I am currently filling out the I-864 form and am a bit confused. Since my spouse's income is below the poverty line, we checked 17a and am using my income as well. Now... is my spouse still the only joint sponsor (1d) OR do we have check 1e (I am the first / second joint sponsor)? We think that he's still the only one, since we don't have to file anything for me (as I am the intending immigrant). Can anyone help me out here? The wording is very confusing! Thanks!

i485 interview notice has been sent in the mail: 6/4

Not sure which visa type you are adjusting for, but it is my understanding that beneficiary cannot be considered as source of income. The petitioner is the sponsor, and if the petitioner does not meet the financial requirements, you can have a co-sponsor but you have to fill out information from both the sponsor and the co-sponsor.

I am adjusting from F1 (on OPT) to Green Card. I am mainly referring to this post (http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/636527-i-864-income-from-intending-immigrant/) that pictures a very similar situation (my sponsor/spouse is not unemployed though, he just makes less than 20k).
