I met my fiance (he's Korean) on line in Sep 2005 and I went there Jan 2006. I began the K-1 application in Feb 2006 but because of his various financial problems, debt, fines, etc., which I helped him with, he could not go to an interview until October 2006. I went there to go to the interview with him. The officer questioned the validity of our relationship a lot because he has 4 children and was unemployed - she thought he must certainly be just looking to get to America for the sake of his children. But the real problem was a few items on his police record which turned out to be CIMT (crimes which make him ineligible for a visa - he did not realize they would be problems because they are not regarded as anything serious in Korea) and now I am filing I-601 (waiver) (this time with a lawyer). We are depressed. Anyway, while waiting for the results of the waiver, I want to visit him (with my son) this summer and meet the children...I have 2 jobs (70 hours/week) and I need a rest and to see him.

I am sorry to hear of your situation and hope that the waiver process is successful. I am so thankful that I no longer have to work two jobs, I did it for about 17 years so didn't have a live! Good luck

Wishing you lots of luck shannon! I was intrigued by your comment about the criminal record. Was this something you knew about before the interview?

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.
