Lack of bona fide marriage proof (financial)

Hi Everyone,

I'm new  to the visa process and I'm afraid I may of messed up?

My husband has been in the USA with GC and it's almost time to apply for the 10yr GC.

I'm super afraid I may of messed up when it comes to the shared finances aspect

When he first came were, we were living with my mom and most of the bills were in her name.

Eventually she moved and it was just us but I didn't think to have the names put in his name. To be fair, at the time he wasn't working but still.

So pretty much when it comes time to file, I'm only going to have a couple months of a few bills in his name.

I do have tax returns filed jointly, joint bank account and him as an authorized person on a credit card. 

Is that going to even be enough for the financial proof??

You need to submit sworn affidavits from individual that can affirm the marriage is real.  At least 2.  Send in few pictures of you two together and with other family and friends.

I don’t know that anyone can tell you how much evidence is enough.  All you can do is send what you have since the marriage began.  Some things you can look into is creating wills and living wills which can be done relatively quickly.

You need to document - with a timeline of sorts - how the two of you lived during those early years.  If you lived with your Mom, and she paid the bills, then get her to write an affidavit attesting to how that worked.  If you gave your Mom any money to help with expenses or rent, and you can prove that on your bank statements, then explain that in a cover letter.  State in your explanation that his name did not go on the bills because he wasn't working at the time.

 

You need to provide everything you CAN provide.  Do you have medical insurance together?  Car insurance together?  Do you both have driver's licenses with the same address?  Do you have both names on your apartment lease?

 

This is what you need to include.  And EXPLAIN how you did life during those early months.

I still don't have bills in my name. You can think outside the box it will help. 

 

Is he covered on your car insurance? 

Health insurance?

Life insurance with each other as beneficiaries?

Bank transaction from him? From your joint account.

Drivers license from both of you at the same address.
