Greetings everyone, just received great news that our interview has been scheduled for next month, and currently working through the pre-interview checklist.

I understand the instructions for the health check, but I'm struggling to find any information on the cost of vaccinations for an impending US immigrant. If there are any fellow journeymen/women who have any knowledge of vaccination fees in Vietnam, either in Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi, I'd be grateful if you could share your experience!

Very inexpensive. Nothing compared to everything else you're paying for.

Thanks for posting.

I'm not worried if it will be expensive or not, I'm concerned with exact figures so I can bring the necessary amount.

My fiance just went last week. It was about $220. 4,890,000 dong. Good luck

Thanks for posting.

I'm curious if this is for the 'Medical Assessment' at one of the two qualified hospitals, rather than the vaccinations which can only be administered at the International Health Quarantine Center of HCMC.

Yeah you're right i misread the post, my bad. Vaccianations actually depends on if she had any perviously or not.  When we tried to ask how much before we did it, they just said it depends on what state she will be living in, which i didnt know even mattered.

No worries. I can see how one could confuse the two.

I figured the cost depended on the necessary vaccines, and in our case, she will be receiving the lot of them for her age. Any chance you know in what ballpark the costs were for your fiancee? Even if she didn't need to whole list, I would find it helpful in approximating the cost. Thanks in advance :)

It was 2,160,000. Thats excluding one vaccination that is still out of stock at the one recommended by the consulate.

Just asked my fiance and the last one is 620,000. So total for us was 2,780,000. She didnt have any vaccination records before this and she is 22, hope that helps.

I really appreciate your input as this is precisely what I was looking for. You rock! :dancing:

Was she able to complete the medical exam without the one vaccine that was out of stock? We don't live in HCMC and I'm anticipating having to travel to and fro to check all the boxes :/

You're in Vietnam. The cost for anything and everything changes on a whim. Just take plenty of cash and you'll be good. I never rely on anything being a fixed price in Vietnam. You shouldn't either. Also, you can get some vaccinations in the U.S. You don't necessarily have to have them before leaving Vietnam. In fact, some vaccinations are always out or in short supply in VN. Not a big deal. You are thinking too much about it. Just take plenty of dong and you'll be fine. Unless someone has been losing in one of those Cambodian casinos. :)

Haha, you're not wrong. I've definitely been micro managing this process since the beginning and now that we're coming down the home stretch, I can't help but be extra vigilant. Living here, that's definitely been a point of friction on more than one occasion :bonk: Thanks for the input.

No problems with the medical. The doctor that did the vaccination said if it doesnt come in time, then we can get it when we are in the states.

Glad to hear it's a non-issue. I really appreciate the input.

Best of luck next Thursday! :D

On another note, I'd rather get the shots in the U.S. Vietnam is known for medical fraud/unsafe practices and fake medicine. Some of the meds I've purchased there were definitely suspect. A lot of knock-offs from India, etc. The medical horror stories my wife tells are absolutely crazy. Cheap? Yes. Safe? Maybe not.  Good luck to you!  Heading back to Hanoi in May and can't wait to get there. Pho and some cheap beer - yeah, that's the ticket!
