We got our approval on November 29th 2017 for a k1 finance visa, I'm in the United States pregnant and waiting for him to come here. Just wanted to know what I should be expecting in the upcoming weeks and how to best prepare myself and help him through the process as well. I know that theres the ds-160 form and he has to go get a medical and all that stuff for his interview but what else should I be preparing for? I was also curious about when my letter from the NVC will arrive and what it will say on it, should I call the NVC before I receive the letter or after or will they only send it to me after I call? PLEASE AND THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP!!!

Congrats!!! :) I know the feeling! I got my NOA2 approved November 3rd and we are still waiting on our case number. The NVC should send you a letter that says they sent your fiances case to thier state/city where they will go for thier interview. (I still havent got this letter!) That could take up to 4-6 weeks. Read this link on how to contact the NVC but give it 2 weeks first at least to allow time to recieve your case. https://sites.google.com/view/post-noa2/home

Right now all you can do is gather the documents needed for your fiancé to take with them to the interview. Below is copied information from this site! Good luck :)

What to send to your fiance once the I-129F is approved (Receive NOA2):
1.    A copy of the entire I-129f package (that you made when you sent the petition in) and a copy of information that you sent back due to an RFE (if you received one). Your fiance should review this information in advance of the interview (the embassy will have copies of this as well).
2.    Send copies of the documentary proof that you submitted with the I-129F for your fiance to have on hand for their interview at the embassy. Your fiance should review this information in advance of the interview (the embassy will have copies of this as well).
3.    Send an original letter affirming your desire to marry your fiance and your continued support of the K-1 Visa. Sign and date the form. This will be similar to the letter you provided with the I-129F, but dated much closer to the interview (it will have most likely been several months since you submitted your I-129F).
4.    I-134 Affidavit of Support form. Ensure it is signed, with all required supporting evidence. Begin collecting the required information ahead of time, as it can often take several weeks to collect it all.
5.    You will need several items (for the above form). Gather duplicate evidence of income and resources as appropriate:

(A) Statement from an officer of the bank/financial institution with your deposits, identifying the following: 1. date account opened; 2. total amount deposited for the past year; 3. present balance
(B) Statement(s) from your employer on business stationary showing: 1. Date and nature of employment; 2. salary paid; 3. whether position is temporary or permanent (also include copies of your last two pay stubs and your previous W-2 for the associated employer if available)
(C) If Self Employed: 1. Copy of last income tax return filed (or IRS transcripts); or 2. report of commercial rating concern
(D) List containing serial numbers and denominations of bonds and name of record owner(s).

Begin collecting these ASAP after your NOA2 arrives. See this FAQ for more tips and useful information on the Affidavit of Support Form.
6.    A copy of the NOA2 that you received in the mail. (backup information; the embassy will have copies of this as well)
7.    Proof of your ongoing relationship. This needs to be taken to the interview!

Include photos, travel documents, emails, online chat logs (pick several over the prior few months), etc.. from between the time you filed and present (NOA1 until date-now).

Examples: Copies of land line and cell phone bills, appropriate emails and letters you have sent including the stamps on envelopes (to document the date they were sent), and other written documentary proof. Provide a reasonable amount; two to four of each type. Pick a range of dates up to and including the present. You can also include a copy of engagement ring receipt (this is something that is a big optional - do not worry if you do not have a ring yet!)

Congrats. How long did it take to get your NOA2? I filed in April while I was still pregnant. My son is born now and my fiancé couldn’t be here for the birth 😢 we are currently waiting for our I-129f to be approved.

Oh my goodness this is a lot of info. You mean to tell me i have to put together another package for the k-1 visa even though they have everything that I needed 😱 my fiancé and I talk through a app called what’s app. We don’t write each other at all. This just made my head hurt. It’s a difficult process

It seems overwhelming but its really not. You're basically just preparing the documents along with the Affidavit of support form that your fiancé will need to bring to their interview. You will have a month or 2 to get this done, so no pressure :) then you will send it to them and they will take care of the rest. Did you guys make copies of the first package you sent? That was part of the instructions that I read everywhere when I first learned how to go about this process. The letter of "intent to marry" needs to be written/printed again anyway but just dated and signed much closer to their interview to verify that you still want to get married. You can find the Affidavit of support form on this site under "guides" and then "form downloads" .

I don't want to rain on your parade, and I can sense the joy and delight in your post....but your K-1 has not been approved yet. All that has been approved is the petition which is basically goving your fiancé permission to apply for a visa. You have a long way to go yet, especially as he is from a MENA country. It's the embassy that decides whether a visa is approved or not. The USCIS petition us the easy part in comparison.

Please don't think I am being harsh or negative. I truly hope his visa is approved when he goes to the embassy. But I'm being realistic in that the hard work is just about to begin.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

I agree you are looking at a LONG time. Especially from a MENA country.  I hope you understand that.  Your husband will not be in america to see the birth of your child unfortunately.  He will probably get put in AP as well.  I just want you to mentally prepare for that ahead of time

Yeah I agree with others who say your visa has not been approved yet. Only your petition. You still got a while to go. But don’t get discouraged because if you’ve waited this long for the current processing at USCIS, then the rest should be a breeze.

Question to those who mentioned a MENA country, pardon my ignorance, but what is a MENA country?

@ebouloudene it can be difficult to get an interview date in Algeria, you may not get an interview until Feb or after.

If you use Whatsapp and just made calls that fine. I used this app. On the app, tap on calls and snapshot a photo, do one for each month until fiance Consulate appt.

I snapshot each month since I last saw my fiance. I did snapshots of texts and video calls logs.(make sure months shows )  I copied and placed 3 months on a  word page ; best if you print off in color. I used this as proof of relationship along with 8 pictures ( places ziplocbag ). .

FYI , you stated just call logs , but for text no need  to translate since interview will be in the benificiary country.  If diffrent country, then  get translated.

Hi, I got approved on November 7th and still waiting to get my case number from the NVC . I was told average time is between 4 to 6 weeks, but you should start calling the NVC after 15 days. ask for the case number, and give it to your fiancé to complete/submit the form online, make payment, and schedule interview date. you can read reviews here: http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/index.php?cnty=Algeria

My fiancée is in Algeria, I can keep you posted.  Good Luck!
