One way ticket after K1 Approved?

This questions been on my mind! Once the K1 visa gets approved and you're allowed to return and marry within 90 days...can you get a return ticket and just not return on the return date or do you have to get a one way ticket? Only reason i ask is because return tickets are much cheaper in some cases and doing it that way would just be much easier but i'm not sure if having a return ticket and not returning would be an issue or not?

Roundtrip tickets are done all the time.  You can make the return date almost one year (330 days?) from when you are purchasing the ticket  In this way, you may be able to use the return portion on a future trip back home.  If you don't use it, just call the airline to cancel your ticket back.  Worse case is that you lose the return portion of your ticket.  You can also use the return date for an off season time which could possibly result in a lower airfare.

Buy whatever suits your wallet. In my case, a one-way on Norwegian was cheaper than anything else. A round-trip with a flexible return date initially set for 12 months later is a good option as you might be ready for a trip home by then (or might need one for a family emergency such as a bereavement).

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

I agree with @JFH If one-way is cheaper - get that. If round-trip is cheaper, get that (and maybe try refunding the return portion of the ticket).

Both should be accepted by the airline and customs when they see that you have a one-way visa.
