My mum 67 years and has been in the US for 7 years. She interviewed in August at the Chicago USCIS office. passed the reading, writing and Speaking ability test. She failed the civic test had 5/10.  A little bit confused here as the Form N-652 had a check on

You passed the tests of English and the US history and government.

then a check on

You will have another opportunity to be tested on your knowledge of US. history and government

Which is which?  and will the second test cover all the 100 questions or Just a portion of the question? She is French and I am too but she knows most of the questions know and seem ready but not sure if it will be just a portion of the test vs. all questions.

Thank you

where the checkmark is

the second one about the civics test, se failed that so she will be tested again on the 100 questions

just like the first time, the officer picks a random 10 questions out of the 100 and she has to know 6 out of 10

but she has to study them all

My 67-year-old mum had her second civic test yesterday, 11/29/2017. she has been in the US for 6 1/2 years. out of those years, she visited her country and spent almost a year due to falling ill and was adviced by the doctor to complete treatment before traveling back which we all agreed too and that was 4 years ago. we go a general letter from a doctor saying yes she was seen on multiple times for extreme High blood pressure etc.

A decision wasn't made nor any document requested at this time. We had sent all documents requested in the first interview already. The io said to me when he came out that, everything was fine and did not need anything but sending the case over to supervisor for a decision. The io was nice tho

Any idea what will happen, am just bothered with the almost one-year stay thing which was 4 years ago. But mum said he was satisfied with all answers she gave him tho.  why is he sending the file to this supervisor if all is okay with him?

thank you

@ Mcdull, thank you. Just was concern about the almost a year she spent overseas. we presented a letter from the doctor confirming she was seen multiple times .its been 4 years 7 month now and has not traveled anywhere outside the US.  Hoping she gets approved.

They seem to be applying the four years and a day rule, review is a totally normal procedure and they won’t tell you why but it could be that the person is relatively new and so all cases are run past supervisor or all cases with an extended leave from the us are put past the supervisor.
