The i765 has a check box for renewal but the i131 didnt so do you just have to reapply?

Yup. Submit I-765 and I-131 together with a copy of the I-485 NOA1 to the Chicago Lockbox. I also recommend to include a cover letter stating you want the 2 forms to be processed together because you want to renew your combo card.

Any idea if you need to take new photos?

Just to be safe, you can also include photos. I have seen USCIS just reuse the same photo from old EADs since they already have it on file; but better safe than sorry.

Good day everyone.

We applied for AOS on Dec 8th and still have not had the green card interview. My wife's mother has recently become very ill and is in the ICU in the Philippines. My wife has the EAD/AP combocard and I am suggesting she goes ASAP to be by her mothers side. She will be travelling alone because I am currently in the middle east for work and my company bereavement policy does not cover a sick mother-in-law so I can not travel to be there unless she takes a turn for the worse and passes (I'm praying this does not happen).

Does anyone know if she will be given any problems departing the USA and returning by immigration officials, especially since she will be travelling alone from the USA and potentially the return leg to the USA? will the AP/EAD combo card and her plethora of notice of actions be sufficient to allow her to leave and return without harrassment?

Im sorry to put this here but this has occured abrubtly and I am looking for any help.

Thanks and God Bless,

Ryan and Daniella

Sorry to hear about her mother :(

Unless you can think of a reason there may be an issue..There shouldnt be any issues if she has AP. I used AP and had no issues returning to the US and i went to mexico (originally from canada)

In situations like this go asap!

Sorry to hear this. I’m thinking she will be fine, her AP card is for issues like these when you need to depart for emergencies. Maybe she can get a medical note from her mother’s doctor to verify the situation for when she returns. Praying for you guys.

Odds are she will not face problems, that is what AP is for. Most AP travelers go into secondary inspection as a formality; CBP confirms that AOS is still pending. On that note, how long is the trip anticipated for? If its a long trip, do you have someone that you trust to read any mail correspondence from USCIS (i.e. AOS interview notice, RFE, etc.)?

I doubt it will be a long trip, maybe a few weeks. She has complications from diabetes which has led to septic shock. This issue usually comes to a good or bad conclusion rather quickly. My mother lives close by and she can check our mail. Thanks for the advice.

We're in Orange County, CA and still have no gotten an interview (nor did we get the AP/combocard - so we've been on ONE income for over a year now.. living paycheck to paycheck and not able to do much about it).

Always nice to hear we are not the only ones still waiting in the 12/2017 AOS filers.. at least I know a lot of people are in the same boat and waiting... any day now! Wishing for that Christmas miracle.

I'm sorry you've not recieved AP approval yet. I hope the best! Well, if not this Christmas, next Christmas for sure we should all have approvals lol.

I will definitely report back on here when we get our good news.
Happy holidays :-)

That's way out of processing time for both EAD and AP. Any RFEs on the I-485? If not recently, have you filed an e-request about the EAD and/or AP? https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/displayONPTForm.do?sroPageType=onpt Or have you contacted your congressperson or senator? When I contacted Senator Kamala Harris's office about my EAD, I quickly received a forwarded response from USCIS; overall, a positive experience interacting with that office: https://www.harris.senate.gov/services/help-with-a-federal-agency

My husband contacted Mimi Walters but there was no response - but we will definitely be contacting the above mentioned!
We had gotten the message from USCIS stating that as of August 2018 they are "ready to schedule your interview" so we figured everything was on track (eg: no RFE's) - that is why we just kept waiting around.

THANK YOU so much for the heads up! I truly appreciate you took the time to make this comment as it really helped us and let us realize that perhaps we CAN do something. With government stuff we just always figured we could do absolutely nothing except wait.

Hey, quick question. Did you travel on your AP before renewal of the combo card? I am curious as to what to put on the I-765 question 21a. It asks for the last I-94 arrival departure record #. Would this be your original I-94 when you came into the country using your K1 visa. Or would this be the I-94 # when you came back from leaving the country on holidays? Super confused. any help would be great!
