I have a question and I have skimmed the threads on here to see if any were similar to the question I have but did not see any.......so my fiance has a child and is the primary caregiver of his daughter. I am wanting to petition for his daughter but worried that bio-mom would possibly make things difficult when it comes to the process. We have not started the process for the CR-1(we are getting married on my next visit) but was wondering if anyone has experience or knowledge as far as custody in Jamaica and how it works? I plan on speaking with mom when visiting to see if we would be on the same page as far as her child coming to the US with dad and I. Or am I putting the cart before the buggy?? Does any of this make sense??  I am really trying to get all my ducks in a row because I know this a very serious process and I am not taking it lightly. Thank you in advance for your response.

I would definitely get a feel for mom next time you go so you know where her head is.  If he's not willing to move without his daughter, then you all need to discuss options.  I don't think it's too early to discuss because being a step-parent is a huge deal.
