Hello all,

This is my first time writing --- newbie alert 😀!

I want to ask about my i130 petition for my husband.

I am a dual US and Turkish citizen and my husband is a Turkish citizen, we both live together in Istanbul, Turkey. We filed his i130 petition on June 26, 2017 but never received any mail- aka NOA1- at our home address in Turkey or by e-mail.

Therefore I don't have an NOA1.

So, I checked the USCIS Case Status online and it said that they received the petition and would send instructions by July 26, 2017. I never got instructions. So I called the Customer Service hotline and the worker there told me

that the case was being processed at the NSC and that I would get a reply within 6-7 months.

It's almost been 6 months, should I be doing anything else? Do I need to have the NOA1?

Thank you,

Merve Özak

Yes. You should call USCIS again and request another NOA1, just to keep your hard copy paper trail

Also double check the address they have for you so you can be confident that it ia correct.  It is always unsettling when mail doesnt get to you. Did you list a US address for mail at all? If there is someone who would be able to receive amil for you it 2ould be safer than relying on international mail... often govt depts are known to use domestic postal rates for international mail... doesnt work for them any more than  it would work for us !

Thank you for the reply!

SOrry it took me a while to write back. I am still trying to reach the USCIS and learn what address they have filed for me. I did also give them a US address but my relatives there told me they hadn't received anything either. Maybe they missed it or something, I don't know.

Hopefully, I'm going to try calling USCIS again today and mail them my address so they have their info updated. Because they had sent us a notice to our foreign address of a mistake we had made on our application. But then again at that time our application was first sent to the Chicago Lockbox. Nebraska is just so difficult to deal with though, I hope this time it won't be! :(
