Hi... same thing happened to me as well.. I completed 8 weeks yesterday and today they told me that they’ve escalated my case to a supervisor... what comes next? How long does it take to have a case number? My file was received at NVC on May 10th.

I am not sure what your dad being deceased has anything to do with your marriage certificate. If you are applying for CR1/IR1, yes you will need a copy of your marriage certificate.

Ok did you just wait or did you call..  I'm thinking of calling.

Mine took 30 days almost also to get case approved and i was Potomac i did a service request after week and half and i found it updated to that they recieved the evidence and no longer on hold after that by two weeks it was approved.

You can still make that service request online or try reach a tier  2 supervisor if been more than a month and no updates at all .

I applied for my mom. She is widowed. I am asking for her MC, if we need that.

I think you will need your birth certificate to show that you and your mom are related. Your mom's marriage certificate shouldn't matter, but if NVC asks for it, you can provide them a copy. I am 99% certain that they won't ask for it, as her marriage certificate isn't relevant to this case.

I think it's a good idea to get the marriage certificate ready regardless of the visa type. On this page (which I think is general for immigrant visas and not specifically about spousal visas) it says that if you're married, you need to provide your marriage certificate. Good luck!
