Name change and form question

I am about to send in our I751 forms and I wanted to know if I need to include my US citizen child on it? She has no A number, she is a US citizen but my husband and I have seen contrasting advice about whether to include her on the forms or not.

Secondly, when I got my Visa and GC, I only had ID in my maiden name so my current GC is in my maiden name, too. I'd like to have the 10 year one issued in my married name, is this possible? Can I just write it on the forms, or maybe include a letter requesting it?

Help is very much appreciated!

The form seems to ask for all children, so I would list all children. There is a box to tick to indicate whether the child is applying with you for removal of conditions... that's where you indicate "no" because the child is already a citizen. The part of the question where it asks for the A# you should be able to leave blank or put NA since they have none.

I believe you should be able to fill out the I-751 with your married name, as long as you list your maiden name in the "any other names you've used" box. You can also add further information on page 11 of the form. Make reference to the section where you put your full name, then in the space for additional information, explain that you have changed your name based on the marriage.

Make sure you include a copy of your marriage certificate to support the name change, and refer to it in your cover letter.

I found an old thread about it, but it did seem as though you would get your 10 yr green card under your new name.

Is your timeline updated?

Great, thank you very much! I had listed our daughter, but he said he'd read we shouldn't so the clarification is great! I found that older thread, too, but wasn't sure if anything had changed since then. I hope it's that easy, I'd like to be able to finally switch everything into my married name!

I'd look into whether your jurisdiction requires a legal name change.

We had a name change from maiden to married; went thru the court process this summer. We were required to submit paperwork, and pay a fee to receive a Certified judicial decree/order signed by a judge. Then followed up with changing names on the passport, SSN card, and drivers license.

We sent the Certificate with our i751 paperwork, and emphasized the name change in the cover letter.
