AOS Forms - Typed or Hand filled out?

Who typed in, and who filled out by pen/hand on their 485/765/864/130/131 etc?

Is there a preference?

With all of our forms, I have filled them out in PDF format so they can be printed and easily read.  USCIS does prefer typed out because it is easier to read and results in fewer errors being made.  There are enough difficult parts to this process without adding the possibility of misread information being an issue because the agent reading your application wasn't able to understand your writing.  So, in order to have the risk of RFE's or a denial, we did all of our forms online and have had great success.  We have applied for the K1 visa and were granted it, have applied for EAD and I-485 and have been granted EAD and I-485 is still pending.  My point is to make sure that everything is clearly typed...besides, typing is much faster and easier because you cannot use white out or correction fluid on any USCIS forms.

I don't know of any preference, but they accept both. I believe I did both along the way but have done pen/hand the most.

We used the PDF forms (typed). Just be aware that the forms don't work properly if you use some browser PDF viewers (the signature box red text might get printed!), so make sure you use Acrobat Reader to fill them in AND print them.

 

Some of the current forms have bugs where you can't enter CURRENT, N/A, NONE or hypens for e.g. K-1 or E-2 visa. We worked around these bugs by noting all the places the form validation was broken, and writing in pen after we printed them. So far, so good.

Does it matter if some of it is typed and some it isnt?

I am using Chrome to fill it in, and some areas won't let me type in a  response?

Or is it best to try and just put down all information in typed font?
