My thread title was changed by a mod.  So if it isn't a rule, then the mod made a mistake in changing it and then posting in the thread that thread titles must match the title of the article being posted.  Take it up with her.

Your attempt to ridicule is childish.

you're out of line, i wasn't ridiculing. i literally said 'it's a rule'. i was confirming that the title matching the source is a rule, i've been here long enough to know that it is a strict rule. calm down.

Sure didn't seem to me like you were being serious.  I guess all your other sarcastic posts skewed how I read it.

Don't tell me to calm down.  I am perfectly calm.  Once again, the ridicule comes out.

Hey man I still really would like to know what you thought I was implying when I said "majority holiday". I honestly meant nothing other than what I have already explained. So please elaborate. In a PM if you really don't want to do it here.

No problem. Have a nice trip tomorrow!

I honestly mean no offense by it. I admit I was being a little snarky about the title/thread content issue, but by the end of the thread I admitted my mistake :)

I am a Christian myself, my wife even more so. I absolutely love Christmas and I genuinely don't understand the "War of Christmas" mentality. I would have never thought anything was wrong if I didn't see news articles each year referencing it. It's become a big thing in the last half decade or so I'd say, and I just don't get it. Maybe I'm not living in the right places but in San Diego and NYC (Where I've been the last decade, and now Houston for the last year) I see Christmas absolutely everywhere. NYC, typically seen as a "liberal bastion" is quite chock full of Christmas. Christmas trees everywhere, Christmas lights everywhere, every Department store clearly celebrating with Christmas-themed decorations. Santa Claus everywhere. If I didn't read the news articles I honestly would have never thought Christmas was "under threat".

I personally didn't mind either way that Obama wrote "Happy Holidays" on his cards. I just saw it as him trying to be "inclusive" of everyone. He still had a Christmas tree, Christmas lights and I'm sure his family still opened presents each year. The other big "thing" that stands out for me is the "Starbucks cup" issue, but again as a Christmas-celebrating Christian I just never really cared. Do I need Christmas on my coffee cup? We have Christmas-themed mugs, pillows, blankets, lights, a tree all at home. After getting that starbucks I'm likely to walk into a store that has Christmas themed decorations everywhere. What does the cup really matter? I just never saw that as a "threat" to my holiday, and I still don't.

I realize and recognize that I am blessed by celebrating the "majority holiday" (again I mean no offense by that, it's just the truth). As an adult maybe it doesn't matter much, people get used to it, but I imagine as a kid who celebrates a different holiday it may have been strange growing up where every store, every radio station etc.. is talking about something you don't celebrate, and very few people talk about what you do. I thought it was a "nice gesture" for the Obamas to say Happy Holidays, nothing more. I still think it was a quite innocent thing to do, and not a big deal.

That being said, it is one of those actions that really didn't need to happen in the first place but now that a new precedent was set, it does make you think about what is intended when you "revert" back. Going from Christmas -> Happy Holidays is being inclusive, it isn't excluding Christmas, it is just including others. Once you are at Happy Holidays, going back to Christmas is suddenly an act of exclusion. If I were President, I probably would have stuck with Happy Holidays. I still would have had the White House decked out in Christmas decorations though. My tiny house is full of the stuff (we just put up all of our bunting last night).

Sorry that was long winded. Again, have a good night and good luck with the fish. I gotta get writing a paper.

If you just provide a link to an article, but you are posting your own commentary on the article (instead of posting just one big quote from the article), does the title still need to match?

I have a thread on the first page here about Kellyanne leading the Opioid crisis group. My title didn't match the article exactly, but I also didn't quote the article I just provided a link and made my own comment.

I tend to follow this rule, but I am confused, where does it actually state this in either the TOS, or in the pinned thread?
