My wife is two weeks shy of 9 months on waiting for her Citizenship Interview testing date at the Seattle Field Office.  Now regularly I have been putting in inquiry requests, and they would always say Inquiry can not be submitted because our case is still within normal processing times.  Now today, I put in a request and the response was different. This time they said:  "Thank you for your request:  USCIS will review and process the request .  Expect a reply by December 20,2017.  Your request ID Number is SR13321707766SEA

My question is to VisaJourney followers is:  Does this reply mean that my wife's In Line for Interview is now beyond normal processing times??  Any assistance on this would be greatly appreciated.

Again, for 2 months I kept getting the same response that they can not process my inquiry because the case is still within normal processing time.  Now, their response is different.  Or am I reading into something that I should not be??

Our application was received on 3/7/2017 and Biometrics done around 4/12/17  and on 4/17/17 case updated to In Line for Interview.  If this helps in getting answers.  And our Field Office is Seattle.

Thank you kindly for any assistance

Thanks for the update - also waiting on a response for naturalization out of Seattle. Based on current wait times, your case isn't beyond normal processing times. They might come back with your answer being just that. It never hurts to hope but I wouldn't hope too much. There was a January case that got approved back in September so it seems they jump around a bit. I hope your case is processed soon!

Thank you. Looks like we're both in the same boat. I too wish your case is also processes soon.

The Seattle office is incredibly backlogged... Looking at the filers from even Feb/March, not even they have received an interview yet.

I would talk to a Congressional Rep about it. Rep Jayapal's office is incredibly professional and quick with immigration inquiries.

Wife applied in Dec 2016, and on 21 Dec 2017, we received Case In Line For Interview notification. This is for the Seattle office.

Reg. Processing times, since this year USCIS works by dates not months from application. For Seattle office, the N400 dates are Dec 25, 2016 (updated for Sep 30 2017). Check your application date, once it becomes current (which should be anytime now) you will get the notice for interview.

Hi,

My application was received on 4/1/2017, Biometrics completed at the Seattle office on 4/24/17, and case updated to In Line for Interview on 4/26/17.

I was ok with still being in line 8 months later as others seem to be in the same boat but now I see that some Aug 17 Seattle filers on here already have interviews scheduled.

I will never understand the logic.  They say applications are taken on first come first service, but I do see that n400 received a few months after ours already has their interview date.  This is the Seattle Field office.  Sometimes I am concerned because of the horror stories you hear about USCIS making so many mistakes, losing applications, green cards with wrong names or mispelled names.  So, I am worried that our application they received on 3/7/17 is sitting in a forgotten pile.  I understand they receive tens of thousands of applications per month, but that is not an excuse for not doing your job.  They are a business, if business is good and they are backlogged then that business will hire more employees.  USCIS should think that way also

Thanks for the Info,  In my area where I live I did contact Rep Denny Heck.  His office sent me a form to complete and I mailed it back.  I am not looking for any special favors, just want some answers to be sure my application hasnt been lost or misplaced as the USCIS is notorious for making mistakes.   Been 10 months now, and I have read where I have seen a few people that filed 3-6 months after me who already got their interview and the Oath, so it is frustrating.  USCIS said on these applications they take first come, first serve, but the reason for others going ahead I dont understand!!!  Thank you

It's not about special favors. They are doing the job of keeping the departments of the executive branch accountable to its constituents. Once you file that form, the process is still the same (i.e. everyone has to go through the same checks and interview), it's just that a manager or someone dedicated to answering congressional inquiries will examine the file.

It might have something to do with a name check or verifying how you got your green card, etc. Did USCIS give you a reply?

wow, you filed in August/2017 and already have your interview date for January/2018??  How and the heck did they skip the petitioners from March/2017 when my wife applied??  I swear the USCIS has no method for their madness.  My wife too came here December 2013 on fiancee Visa.   We applied for her citizenship on the 3 year plan because of married to me a U.S. citizen.  She too never left the country in all this time.  I will never figure this agency out, this is why I put in a request with my local congressman to see if he could get any verification of our status.  The way I understand it according to USCIS they take the applications on first come first serve, but I see many petitioners getting in front of the line for whatever reason.  I will never understand this agency.  Anyways VetsWife 328, good luck, and it is just time now and you will be naturalized.  Will you take the oath the same day??

@vetswife328 - I don't think there's ever a reason to worry about getting a quick interview :):)

it makes no sense except the online filing part - March (paper) filer here, resident since January 2017.

Good luck to you!

when USCIS wrongfully scheduled me an interview on a Saturday (I showed up and it wasn't open).

It took me 5 months to get my interview rescheduled. I pulled few of those service requests and they were utterly useless, I got BS responses including "we have no record of you filed N400" and "You file is in transit from NYC" (I filed in Boston)

I also contacted my senator and representative, both of them responded back with generic updates: You application is being reviewed.

And then one day, out of the blue or perhaps neon pink, I just received a letter telling me I missed my interview and a new one will be scheduled.
