Okay so we decided to visit a few times in Canada and the UK, then get married after we have some proof of spending more time together - then applying for a greencard.

My last question is what do you all think about websites like:

https://www.usavisanow.com/marriage-green-card/marriage-green-card-attorney-services/

Who set you up an account,  you pay the greencard marriage fee and the attorney fees online - they send you all the eDOCS and they will follow up on your case.

Thanks everyone !

My husband and I did the K1 visa but before applying I knew nothing about immigration.

I luckily found this forum and just followed the step by step instructions for both the K1 and AOS package. We saved a lot of money not involving lawyers. I would suggest following this forum for about a month or two (find a forum with people that are just starting the CR-1/IR-1 process, there are a lot). Everyone always asks the same questions throughout the process. We have not had one issue with the process, just read the instructions on this forum carefully and ask questions here when they come up!

I believe above is the November 2017 thread for IR-1/CR-1 filers. :)

Don't waste your money. Once you get to the point of deciding to move forward with the immigration process after you have met a couple times like you indicate above, use the guides on here to do it yourself. With those type of services, you are still doing about 90% of the work as you have to gather all the evidence and paperwork to supply them and they have no way of speeding up the process for you. If you are detail oriented, you really won't have any issues filling out the forms yourself and putting the package together for it.

Thanks everyone !

Personally, I think these are great websites for folks that don't have real access to PCs at all.   Why do I say that ?

Cause if'n you have a PC, you can easily download the forms that are needed for filing, for free, from USCIS and the Department of State.

Then you can easily fill them out on a PC, print them out, send them off via postal mail.

Then you can easily study here at VJ , glean info, for free, from a PC ...

It's a different experience, when using a handphone web browser.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
