I am filing the I-129F for my fiancé who lives in Cebu. I know there's a US Consulate there and wondering if we are able to use it as the location to process the application or if we must use Manila instead. Does anyone have any info about this? I need to select a location to complete the application.

Hello,

I am a Filipina from Cebu also. There might be a US consulate in Cebu but all the visa applications go through the US embassy in Manila.

The K1 Fiance Visa takes 8 to 9 months now from filing the application until the Port of Entry (POE) in the US. If you do not like to wait that long, you can file for CR-1 Spousal Visa which technically longer around a year or more. The advantage of filing a CR-1 Spousal Visa in the Philippines is that you can apply for Direct Consular Filing in the US Embassy in Manila which cuts the wait time.

Here is a link for more information about Direct Consular Filing.

Thanks for the info msscarlette. I was very curious about that. It seems extremely inconvenient to have applicants go all the way to Manila to complete their processing but we will do what's needed. This is actually my second filing for a K1 visa. I am divorced after 21 years of marriage to another Filipina from Davao. However successfully processed and completed that one in Hong Kong where my ex-wife was living and working at that time. Processing was much faster and hassle free from this. But I do realize the many differences between Hong Kong and Manila. Well at least this time I get to see Manila as I'll probably accompany my new fiancé through her steps till interview. Thanks for all the help.

I realize that it is very inconvenient to have to go through Manila but that is the only place where Visa applications and interviews are processed in the Philippines. They do have a small Consulate in Cebu but they do not process anything at all. So it looks like Manila is the place to be I am sorry. My wife had to do the same thing previously when we are doing her processing, she had to fly from Davao to Manila in order to do medical and the interview. She got lucky because she did CFO in Cebu.

Yeah I'm getting the same info from a few others as well. So Manila it is then. Bye how long did she have to spend there processing everything? What was your total time start to finish? More than likely I'll go with her. This is the second time I've done a k1. Second marriage to a Filipina. My first was from Davao as well was married for 20 years that one but we did hers through Hong Kong. Hopefully this one will go smoothly as well.
