You said “Most people don't go out of there (their) way to offend others on purpose.“. Obviously this isn’t accurate.

Well I think those who do are few in number, but perhaps they assume that everyone else is here for the same reason they are. I think most people are here for political and current events discussion, not to offend others, and I think it's usually incidental when it happens. We do get carried away on occasion, but that's not what i meant by saying going out of one's way to offend other.

The real issue is a president should be able to honor WWII veterans without using the occasion to take petty and demeaning shots at someone who he has personal issues. The guy may be president, but a baboon raised by hyena's would act more presidential. It's unfortunate Mr Bigly just can't act the part. Not even once, can he take the high road.

So say you.  I have no problem with him taking any and every opportunity to attack the people who constantly attack him and the people who voted for him.  He is using their own tactics against them.

So far the only people I see triggered are the Trump derangement syndrome infected of the MDL.

I recall the MDL being so so offend about FSU using the Seminole as a mascot. Then the Seminole nation issued a statement saying they fully supported them and considered it a honor, or words to that effect. Now that was funny right there

The comment was offensive because of its nature and intent.  You're trying to deflect.

This whole thing is a big deflection from the fact that Elizabeth Warren appropriated tenuous NA connections for political purposes.  I guess she gets a pass.

The MDL is upset since Trump is teasing one of their star leaders.

The Native Americans who were present are probably more offended by her appropriating and falsely claiming their cultural heritage as her own.  She is a liar and a fake.  She obviously has her own mental illness issues.

Well it seems like representatives of large Native American organisations weren't quite happy with his behavior

"A leader of an organization representing Native American tribes said Monday that President Trump calling Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) “Pocahontas” during an event honoring Native American Code Talkers “smacks of racism.” “The reference is using a historic American-Indian figure as a derogatory insult and that’s an insult to all American-Indians,” John Norwood, general secretary of the Alliance of Colonial Era Tribes, told NBC News."

Well sure you don't. Trump has always been this way. Always on the attack, and always about himself. That goes back years. Obviously the people who support him are OK with that type of behavior. I am not, and it's the main reason why I wouldn't support him. That and his inability to speak the truth. I don't care what someone's party or beliefs, no one who displays this crass and demeaning behavior would ever get my vote.

Interesting, I looked up the Alliance of Colonial Era Tribes and it seems they only represent 12 tribes.  Not saying they are not outraged, but much like the NAACP, or AARP, this group does not speak for all Native Americans.

Sorry I didn't mean to imply they represented all tribes. Even a group that represented all tribes wouldn't speak for every Native American.

This seems familiar....I feel like we had a similar conversation about whether soldiers and veterans were truly "offended" by kneeling during the National Anthem. Nobody speak for everyone in a large group of people. Some will be offended, some won't.

At the end of the day I just found it in bad taste. Trump wasn't there to score political points against an opponent. Here was their to honour veterans. He should try sticking to one thing. Or if that is too hard, at least stick to complimentary things, or don't throw a negative into an event that should be about positives.

Do you need every native American to sign on board or something? It was a stupid, ill thought out and ill timed remark. It wasn't just hypothetically offensive. It was offensive in any context and doubly stupid to be brought up at a ceremony honoring native American WWII veterans.
