Hey you all,

I am absolutely lost with filling out the Advance Parole thing.

The reason: My father is very very sick and in my home country. I do not know wheter I want to entry only once or multiple times, but i either have to cross one, and I am worried if I cross mulitple entry AP that it will take longer until I get it.

And the other problem is that I do not know when I need to leave the country but they want a date filled in. Please help!

We applied for AP and where they ask for a date we simply put "travel date unknown". We also applied for multiple entry as well. Our reason for applying...my husband's grandfather was sick and he wanted to go home "just in case". He was approved for AP in about 90 days.

If you can get a Dr. to write letter that it is life threatening, you can schedule an infopass appointment and possibly get it expedited, otherwise, you can file and wait up to 90 days. Go for the multiple entry, it does not change the timing.

Cross off multiple entry. It will not take longer to get.

Your response to leaving-the-country date is "To be determined."

Please see http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...ic=61330&hl= for information on filing emergency AP.

God bless.

thank you very much. you info was very helpful. i will do try to get an infopass appointment to hurry the process up.

infopass will not *hurry the process up*. An infopass appt can be used to try to obtain an Emergency Advance Parole, not speed things along with a currently filed application. Just a point of clarification.

Hmm, according to the linked thread, people have received their AP in a matter of days after their INFO Pass appointment, negating the 90 wait process. Maybe that is just me, but not waiting 90 days seems the Info Pass appointment did speed up the process. I'll let you know for sure as we have our appointment today. Ken & Maria

like i said - infopass can be used ONLY to try to obtain Emergency Advance Parole, not to speed up a regular filed I131. That link described Emergency AP's. It is up to the officer to determine IF its an emergency. I would be interested to see if an emergency AP would be issued for multiple entry though.

  • 2 weeks later...

Filed AP I-131 on 2 Apr with I485. Filed Expedite on 22 Apr with no response, made appointment at local USCIS on INFOPASS for 8 May, spoke to the USCIS screener about the lack of response on the AP request. Provided the original and Expedite request, UPS tracking logs of when the packages were received and who signed for them.... 9 May got an email that the Expedite AP was approved.

INFOPASS may not be the correct way to approach the Expedite, but never give up. We got the run around from the Local office pointing to Chicago and Chicago pointing to the regional Office here in Honolulu... When I asked to speak to a supervisor to find our who I really had to talk to, they changed their customer service approach and emailed the Chicago office on 8 May. Bottomline, even a non-emargency expedite request can be handled at the Regional office if you are persistant. Good luck to those that have applied, we leave in 7 days. Ken & Maria
