Biometrics Appointment - Does the USC (sponsor) need to be present?

Hey guys, 

 

We are just planning in advance. My wife and I applied for her AOS ( I am the American Citizen spouse). 

My question is: Does the sponsor (me in this case) need to do biometrics too, or is it just the immigrant? If yes, can I just take my State issued Driver License with me? I am asking because I am applying for a passport and will be without my naturalization certificate when it is time for biometrics.
