Does my main sponsor for the K1 have to be my US citizen fiance?

My fiance is here with me in Nepal and she is volunteering at some organizations and not really making any money. I'm going to put my cousin brother as a sponsor. 

My question is do i really need to put my fiance as my main sponsor and my cousin as a joint sponsor even though my fiance doesn't really have any income atm?

Assume yes. I've seen a small handful of embassies with COs that will accept an I-134 from only a joint sponsor, but Nepal doesn't jump out as being the case.

Once you get to AOS, the petitioner must file an I-864 even if they have a joint sponsor anyway.

The answer is yes.

 

Even if your fiance makes $0, you can include a form that says that. The primary can definitely make less (or nothing) and still be the primary sponsor.

 

At the interview they will then look at the co-sponsor form that you file with it (from your cousin or brother). If there is an embassy that will look at the joint-sponsor alone, it still really doesn't hurt to bring both forms from both individuals.
