Good morning.  Hoping someone may have some information on this that they would be willing to share.  Here is our situation:

We filed for my husband's AOS, EAD, and AP on August 15th.  We have not heard anything back on the EAD and AP but we have his green card interview scheduled for December 14th (2 and a half weeks from now).  Unfortunately, my husbands Grandmother passed away yesterday and we would really like for him to be able to go home (England) and attend the funeral and be able to be with his family but of course we are stuck in limbo where he does not have any documentation to leave the country yet.  We are so close to his green card interview but wanted to know what the options are to expedite the AP and possibly have him be able to travel in the next week?  Or do you think it would be possible to do the green card interview early and get the documentation he needs to travel?

Is this even an option or are we thinking too far outside the box?  If it is an option, does anyone know if a death in the family is reason for expedite AP/interview and how we would go about getting this process started?

Thank you in advance for any info you may have!

I doubt they will move the green card interview, but it's worth a try to call USCIS and ask what your options are. Depending on how busy your local office is, you might be able to schedule an Infopass appointment in the next few days to expedite the EAD/AP.
