When did you receive your GC and when did you file your N400? Sorry, I got confused reading your story and don't know when was what sent and approved.

In September of 2015, I submitted an application I-751 and i received the card i think on 2/1/2018. While waiting for my green card i applied for N400 on may 2017 . Until now I am waiting for  the answer regarding this matter

IT seems your comment is conflicting. Earlier you mentioned you received green card in May/June 2017 and now you are saying 2/1/2018. Not sure which one is true?

If you applied for N-400 in May 2017 and you got your 10 year GC, you are just waiting for an interview for N-400 to be scheduled then, correct? If you still live in Los Angeles, your field office is currently taking 12+ months to process N-400. To me, it looks like it is outside of the processing window, but all you can do is either contact Tier 2 officers and submit case inquires every 2 weeks and keep contacting your senators.

yes correct. I contacted my lawyer last week and he filled an ombudsman. Will see what's the outcome of that.

That's great, keep us informed! At least you got your 10 gc, so you don't have to worry about that. Good luck on getting this resolved! 🙂

I do believe that, trying to assess a case based on the outcome of others' cases doesn't really work, because different cases are treated differently. Forums like these are helpful for sharing support , advising on range of options that might help a case and also offering a gauge of what is going on with fellow applicants. I, however, realize that there is no definite process for everyone. I strongly believe that the new government policy on immigration, "Extreme Vetting" is at play. The role of an IO, who interviews anyone, plays a crucial role in advancing a case, because the current IOs are trained to subscribe to the current government policies. There are applicants who have a smooth process, because they represent the model of an immigrant, but others, have to constantly convince, against all odds that they meet those standards. Some applicants are approved on the spot, and have their status changed within hours or few days, but others, in spite of seemingly successful interviews are still waiting. It's nothing personal, but the change of guard and the impression held of you. Each case has its own merit based on who handles it. When all is said and done, we can only do our honest and sincere level best. Keep your heads up everyone!

BACKGROUND

FILED I-751 (August 2016)

Went through 2 RFE

FILED N-400 (March 2018)

INTERVIEWED (I-751) July 2018

I-751 still pending

INTERVIEW (N-400) October 2018

I'll keep you posted about the outcome.

Congratulations! Did the Ombudsman help at all? Or what did you do differently? I’m trying to figure out a way to get my case moving. Thanks
