Assembling Packet

OK, this may be getting a little picky, but when you send in the I-29F packet and related materials, does it have to be assembled in any special way, or do you just stack everything together, place it in a large envelope, and send it off? Any requirements the papers be in a folder or anything like that?

OK...I just saw a couple of good threads addressing this, so I think I have the info I need, unless somebody feels there is some good info to pass along. Thanks!

Follow the tips/ideas you read...it's not hugely important, it's not graded or anything and they separate everything anyway and put it how they want it. (Obviously you wouldn't want to send a big pile of a mess...)

This question comes up from time to time.

On the two occasions I have seen our case file (since it left my grubby paws), the papers were fastened into a large legal size folder. Documents were attached on both sides of the file, two-hole punched at the top of each stack, and held in place with bendable fasteners (some call them ACCOs).

Just remember: no matter how you put it together, make it easy for anyone picking it up to figure out what is what. Use a highlighter on the less obvious documents (highlight your name on receipts, stamps in crowded passports, etc).

One thing I've seen in threads and RFE discussions: if you have a divorce decree absolute, some countries' forms don't make the "absolute" part very obvious, so highlight it. People have been RFEd even when it was there to begin with! Argh!
