Hi everyone

i am a November filer & understand we are looking at NO2 around April, but I am just wanting to start ahead of time getting things that I can organised including knowing what vaccines I need for the medical incase I need to have some redone (a lot cheaper through local dr)

have looked on websites and on here but nothing seems 100% clear on which ones are needed. Don’t wanna go wasting money on things I don’t actually need. So if anyone has done the medical and can tell me that would be a great help.

oh and I’m a beneficiary from Australia 🇦🇺

Thanks in advance

From what I’ve been reading on this forum, you don’t have to have the vaccinations to get the K-1 visa, but you need to have them for the adjustment of status that you will apply for after you get married. So if you have to pay for them where you’re from, maybe it’s better to wait to get them in the US where they’re free in some free clinics or through your spouse’s health insurance.

Whoops, spell check.  TDaP.  Combo of Tetanus. Diphtheria and pertussis (3-in-1 as is MMR ).  I meant to add he had zero vaccine history and those are all he got.   So it was three injections but 7 vaccines total.  They were far more expensive at the visa medical than a local clinic might do them.

TNJ is correct, the state department site says:

K visa applicants are encouraged to get the vaccinations required under U.S. immigration law for immigrant visa applicants.  Although such vaccinations are not required for K visa issuance, they will be required when adjusting status to that of legal permanent resident following your marriage. Applicants are therefore encouraged to fulfill these vaccination requirements at the time of the medical examination. See Vaccination Requirements for IV Applicants for the list of required vaccinations and additional information.

Vaccinations vary by age.

please use the web site of your embassy or the link provided by @TNJ17  (I actually checked the embassy website and called the hospital my medical exam was going to take place, I'm sure yours will have information too)

for most ages ages it's only 5 vaccines as written by @bakphx1@aol.com and depending on the season may also need a flu vaccine.

Again, only one person said this but this VARIES BY AGE. Don't go paying for shots you don't need.

If you scroll down this page here it shows you the appropriate ages:

As a note: These are the guidelines that approved medical professionals must follow for immigration immunizations.
