Got my NOA for my EAD, when can I expect it in the mail?

Hi everyone,

I've searched through the forums quite a bit and I see a lot of varying answers from 2 to 3 weeks to a couple days after the NOA. My case status online hasn't changed since they first received my case, but I got my NOA in the mail today and it says it was approved on 11/17/2017.  Can anyone who has recently been approved give me their wait time between NOA and having their card in hand? I'm anxious to get the card since I plan to go home for Christmas and I want to buy tickets ASAP as they're already really pricey. Would it be the worst idea in the world to buy tickets before I have my card in hand? Since my status hasn't been updated online, would customer service be able to tell me whether the card has at least been shipped?

thank you for your help! :)

thank you! I sent casework authorization to the congressman's office on November 1st and that day they forwarded it to one of his aids. After 10 days with no update I emailed them for an update and 3 days later they told me they had contacted NBC to expedite and I should be hearing back shortly (that was on November 13th). My NOA came today on the 24th but it shows that it was approved on the 17th. So all together it was about 16 days after getting them involved, but I don't know at what exact time they contacted NBC!
