Well my fiancé’s interview went well and he was approved pending his medical. Which is extremely frustrating because his medical was eight days ago.

The embassy told him 2 to 3 weeks for the medical and then another 10 days for processing.

I’m thrilled that the visa was approved but I simply don’t understand the 2 to 3 weeks from Knightsbridge when they specifically state five days on their website.

Congratulations! Hopefully Knightsbridge hurry up and get it sent over. I just had my medical and she told me 5 days too.

I was wondering the same thing as I read this - everywhere we looked it said it's preferable that the medical be within 5 days of the interview. My fiancé scheduled is exactly a week before his interview for that reason.

Hopefully it won't really take that long at all for you guys and that's just the standard expectation they have to give everyone.

Håll ut, y'all.

I see some UK folks are seeing holdups after the interview - anyone else?  My fiancé had his medical on January 22nd, interview on January 25th (they told him approved pending medical), and the medical report was sent January 26th.  Still in AP at the Auckland consulate.

My status changed the 'ready', woot!! but when I submitted the DS 160 it didn't ask for payment like I thought it would.

When do we pay the fee $265? DS-160, p3, p4 or at interview?

I spent some time today researching this very question, because I was surprised to find out the same thing when I filled out my DS160.

Apparently, when we get Packet 4, there should be links in the body of the message to the website which will process payment, set up the courier service and allow us to make the interview appointment.  Apparently we do have the choice to pay in cash (USD) at the embassy on the day of the interview, or to pay by credit card through the website.

Initially, I planned to fill out Packet 3 and send it ahead of getting my fiance's docs but I decided not to... just in case they get lost or delayed. (Knock wood they get here okay). The minute I get the docs though I'll be sending Packet 3 off to the embassy.

According to what I found out, once we send off our Packet 3 info, we should get Packet 4 back from the embassy in very short order. Like, within a day or less.

Getting close now! Soon this long season of torture will be over.  :)

We were instructed to do the medical exam 2 to 3 weeks from the interview to avoid delay. The embassy said a representative will take the medical results from the hospital in bulk and they only come once or twice a month.

I hope you guys @AZSunshine78 get the visa on hand soon!

You have to ask you US Embassy where you reside or check the consulate information on visajourney http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/

It is not the same for all countries. Some countries ask Form DS-160 and some Form DS-260. It depends on what is written on the Packet 3 that you receive.

In Kuwait, where I reside, they will ask us to pay the Embassy fee $265 during the interview date.

Perfect.  I find myself second guessing every single thing.  I think because I fear doing one thing wrong and it delaying the process further.

I'm still waiting on a few papers as well (i134, i865, and one of the police reports.  I won't submit p3 before getting these for the same reason.

I have filled out my timeline under "C&A", but for some reason it won't let me post under that profile, so I created a new one just to post.  I didn't duplicate the timelines because I didn't want to skew the data.  I know it's confusing, sorry!  Maybe I'll see if I can delete the C&A and update this one.

I also just saw my status change but have not received a letter from the Consulate. Are you saying to send P3 checklist and pay the fee regardless??

Thanks!

Well you can try sending Packet 3...but what I have understood is we cannot pay the fee until we receive Packet 4, with its links to the payment service website used by the Montreal consulate. And we cannot book the interview without paying the fee, so it's important to get Packet 4 from the embassy. As best as I can tell, Packet 4 signals that they have received our Packet 3 and are now ready to proceed with our case, especially if we don't receive any other notification.

So we won't get Packet 4 without sending Packet 3, in other words. Gosh, I hope this is making sense.

According to what I've read, we can try sending Packet 3 to the embassy as soon as we're ready with our documents. This is because sometimes, after the NVC sends our files over,  it sometimes happens that people may not receive any further notice of readiness from the consulate.  Sometimes this is sent by mail or email, or both, but for whatever reason, at times this communication fails. So, if you check your case on CEAC and it says ready, you can try sending Packet 3. If the consulate has logged our case and is actually ready for even if we haven't heard from them yet, they will send Packet 4 back using the email address we used to send Packet 3 to them,  and then we can proceed using the links provided in Packet 4.

If we send Packet 3 and don't get anything back within one business day, we may have to wait and try to send Packet 3 again the day after. That's what I plan to do, because our case has been showing Ready since February 2nd but we have not received any emails or snail mail from the consulate. Regardless of that, as soon as I receive my fiances documents I intend to send Packet 3 and hope for the best. :)

I just want to re-iterate that this is what I've gleaned from my research...not from experience!  I'll definitely report on my experience as soon as I have any, I can promise you that :P AND, if any of the above doesn't pan out, I will find out how to proceed, try it, and report back on that as well.

Yes I'm second guessing myself constantly also, always researching and trying to figure out what to do if something goes wrong. :P  So far our process has gone pretty smoothly (as best as can be expected anyway, given all the delays) so I hope being a Nervous Nelly Control Freak will continue to pay off, LOL!!

Thank you for filling out your timeline!!!  Cheers and good luck, let us know what happens, k? :)

Yup that's all the same info I found from doing research too :) Ours is also "Ready" as of February 2nd -- I sent the P3 email that same day at like 4:30pm. It's Wednesday and I haven't received a response. So I just emailed them again today with the Packet 3. CEAC still shows February 2nd though. I did read some people mention we need to wait till the case gets Updated again before sending Packet 3...but I figured it was worth a shot to resend it again. Will keep you posted if they ever respond...lol. I have a feeling they wont though until I see a new "Last Updated" date in there. Just like what you said...it's like February 2nd they received it and even though it says Ready, I don't think anyone has gone through it yet. Once they do, that's when the "Last Updated" date will change and that's when you should send P3 again. Then you should get P4 same day or next day.

I didn't know you pay the fee when doing Packet 4 though, good to know and thanks for that info!

Oh and from what I read, they will never email you first. Just keep checking CEAC and when the Last Updated date changes, send Packet 3. If no response wait a couple days then send again. Eventually they will respond with Packet 4 and that'll really be the last you hear from them, next step is schedule the medical + interview and that's it.

I'll keep you all posted if they respond or if I hear anything/the "Last Updated" date changes. Like you all i've been like...wayyyyyy over-zealous on all this. Just spending tons of time and thinking of everyone worst case scenario and making sure I have every little thing covered and ready because we can't take any further delays...this has already taken forever it seems (11/21 NOA2...arrive NVC Jan 11th...wayyyyy delayed...). Should've been at this process around Christmas and interview stage -now- in reality...ughhh.
