If you have the case #, the beneficiary can go ahead and scheduled/complete their medical requirements. They recommend waiting until the beneficiary receives their packet in the mail with interview information before scheduling the interview, but it won't be long now till that's received. :)

You can go ahead and fill out the DS160.

I wish it was that way for Canada cause that would make things faster and not waste time :D But we can't do the medical yet even with a case # until we hear from the embassy. Basically it's just all email here, we have to wait till the CEAC tracker shows Ready, then send them an email with the Montreal Packet 3 info that they requested. Only until they respond (by email) with Packet 4 can you go and setup the interview. But you have to setup the interview before you can even do a medical (kind of backwards I think...but I already talked with a few Visa Doctors and they want your interview date before setting up an appointment with them). Montreal says to not do any medical exam till you have your interview date because it has limited validity too(but they dont say how long). I feel like Montreal is really unique with how they do things compared to most other embassies abroad.

With Montreal, the NVC # is only needed when you send your Packet 3 email. So you do the DS-160, make sure you have color copy of the biographic page of the beneficiary's passport, then your completed P3 checklist signed by the beneficiary. Have that all in the email ready (see packet 3 for email instructions/what to title the email)...but you can't send them the email until the CEAC tracker shows your case is "READY" status. If you send it earlier than that, they will just ignore it and not respond.

Can the beneficiary do all this? I mean, can the email and communications with the embassy from this point forward come from myself, as the beneficiary?

Yea I don't think this is normal, even for Canada. Another Canadian told me that hers went from in transit to ready in about 2 days earlier in January. Must be something else going on like some kind of audit perhaps. Looks like we're lucky enough to get caught in yet another sh*tstorm lol.

I tried calling NVC to see if they had any information regarding why it would be in transit this long despite it being electronic. He basically said that it's out of their jurisdiction now and it depends on how backlogged the embassy workload is.

I checked out like 60 timelines yesterday on visajourney and I did see a -few- people who waited up to 8 business days from Left NVC to arrive US Embassy since last Summer through now. We're on our 7th day today But, that was like a few people out of 60. From what I read most took 2-3 days...up to maybe 5 at the most was the average (like left NVC Friday...CEAC changed to Ready on Wednesday, or Friday the latest). Even just this last Christmas (where i'd think they would be busy and limited staffing)...it was taking just a couple days.

Some kind of audit is a great theory! Especially since they could be doing an audit for all of last year. If that's true, then as soon as we send Packet 3, we should get Packet 4 ASAP, within a day or two, and the interview's should be available really soon, within a couple weeks out, since they weren't filling them if they were doing an audit of sorts.

Sure you can definitely do that! :) Technically the beneficiary is supposed to but of course the petitioner can help as well (and will need to anyways to send you some documents, like the I-134 affidavit of support, etc. -- that you need to put a -check- next to on the P3 checklist that you have acquired all those documents from them). The packet 3 is the old -paper- packet that Montreal used to send by snail mail, and they'd mail it to the beneficiary there in Canada. Then, the beneficiary would fill it all out (and get the other docs from the petitioner as needed, like the I-134 affidavit of support, etc.), then they would snail mail it back to Montreal. Whichever email you send the Packet 3 from is the email the embassy will respond to and send Packet 4 to.

When I called yesterday and got my NVC #, I asked them if they had any idea how long it would take to show 'ready'. And they said it depends on the size of the packet and how long it takes NVC to scan the documents.  It's all sent electronically.  I think there's more to it on the embassy side of things.  One more thing we have no control over.  Hopefully things will pick up.

hello,

I was wondering if anyone can help ,my case has been ready at the embassy since Jan. 24 and i haven heard anything from the embassy regarding me sending  any documents. I emailed them a few times and still haven't heard back, usually they take on day to respond. I have went ahead and made my appointment for Wed. the 7. I was allowed to make the app. online after i paid my fee. Is this an issue, once they haven't emailed me and I made the app? this is the embassy in Egypt by the way

thank you in advance.

Yes, you need Packet 4 from them before you can schedule.

You can try sending Packet 3 found here

It has all the instructions. I heard you're supposed to wait til the last updated date changes again but it's still worth a try.

For those of us who have had our interview and have our visa in hand, if you go to the last page and the last post, page 9 I believe, a couple of people have enter their information to help us get an idea of wait times for UK folks.

Yay!!! Yes CONGRATS and thank God for an imminent end to the misery LOL!!

Hey, can I ask...does your fiance have all the documents in hand before sending Packet 3 to the embassy? I'm still waiting for my fiance's info, which should arrive by courier in about a week. Should I take the chance and (try to) make the appointment now anyway?

What's the worst that can go wrong? If his documents arrive late or go missing, we'd have to re-schedule the appointment...right? I'm so tired of waiting, I don't want to wait even so much an extra week if I can help it.  :)
