Question: can we do medical and DS-160 before we get the letter from the Embassy?

I got my NVC case number today and I don't want to wait around for 2-3 weeks for NVC to Embassy and Embassy to Me if I can be doing something to prepare in the meantime!

Yes, you can do both. However keep in mind that once you do medical your timeline starts ticking. You need to do AOS within a year, if you do not want to do medical again.

What about ds160...hv u done that already

No, I haven't.

I heard that if you had filed DS160 before, you can search the old file and modify it, but remember to generate a new file number.

I'm going to try that next week.

I had filed two DS160 before for my travel visa, that should be easy.

You can book the medical exam, according to your country’s visa instruction. In some countries, they require you to have a copy of the hard copy or email with a NVC case number to bring on your medical exam. For the DS-160, you can fill it up even before you receive the NVC case number but make sure take note of the Application ID on the upper right corner of the form so you can modify it. For some people here, it is better to save the DS-160 first and electronically submit the DS-160 when you have an interview date. Also, some countries would require the beneficiary to print out the DS-160 to bring on the interview date, that is why it is best to take note of the Application ID to retrieve the DS-160.

Hey all.

My fiancé has his medical tomorrow at Knightsbridge. Are they supposed to give him a copy of his vaccinations and make a comment of some sort for his AOS filing? He already has all vaccines required for AOS.

Thank you

He may need a copy of the form that says he had all his vaccinations.

he may request it again from the hospital I believe. But he should do it before he leaves

I’ve no clue if he’s supposed to leave the medical with any documentation or what?

I’ve also read that at the interview they give you a copy of your medical records.

The only thing I’m certain of is that he needs something official for the AOS.

I’m assuming they tell him at the medical that he passed.....?...... otherwise pointless going to the interview just to be told, sorry no visa.

sigh., slightly worried

Also get it from where he did the medical exam not any other place. Because he may end up needing to find a civil s. In US to validate it but if it is from the place that is offiaclly from medical exam for US he can use it. I think there's a name for those forms but I can't remember.

Yes he needs that form for vaccination records. I believe he passed too otherwise they would put a hold on it and make more tests. But they don't give it if not requested cause they don't care about your AOS... unfortunately this is why so many people ends up trying to find it later in US.

Hi there, I am still awaiting an instruction letter from the embassy. I can track my case through ceac.state.gov. It has been "Ready" since 24 January, but still no reply from the embassy.  Was just curious how the local embassy processes the cases, if it does some additional security/background checks. Does anyone have any clue? It's nerve-wracking...

Depends on the embassy. Did you try checking any info from anyone that went through the same embassy or embassy reviews?
