How long does it take to receive the letter from NVC after they send my case to the embassy?

I called around 6:19pm local time (Eastern). When I called, I selected the option from the automated menu for confirming if a case was received (I forget which numerical option that was). I spoke to a gentleman by the name of Hank who was not only very polite and friendly, but very quick with information and very helpful. Was it the option to check if you mail was received? option 3?

Yes! That one. I couldn't remember how the menu had it phrased.

Finally!! After 66 days, as of today Im at NVC.

 

Thanks @Paul & Mallory i did option 3 and got the good news.

I was told last night it takes about 1 to 2 weeks.

It took 3 days to deliver my case to the embassy. We didn’t even get to ask for our case number from NVC . My fiancé woke up yesterday and he received Packet 3 in his email from the US Embassy.

Everything after 11pm Swiss time was usually fine (= no waiting time). Not sure that works for your schedule, but calling right before going to bed worked well for me.

In the whole border crossing area usage of phones, cameras, or recording devices is prohibited; not K-1 visa specific.

You can take pictures after leaving the customs area.

Insane. I’ve been to the U.K. Many times and him here and when we come out into baggage claim, no one ever says anything.

 

is POE on the K1 different than going through regular customs?

You go through passport control (that is where POE happens), then collect luggage, then go through customs; then you can take pictures.

Taking pictures in the luggage hall may be OK, I am not sure about that one.

 

Lots of people are on the phone while waiting for luggage and I have never seen anybody harassed about that.
