Haha that's a very good possibility! Should be interesting if ours kind of matches up since the NOA2, NVC receive date, etc. are the same.

One thing I was thinking...is your packet huge (like a lot of documents/photos/etc.)? Cause the NVC told me they have to scan everything into their system. The package I sent USCIS back in May with all our docs was large, like an inch or so thick with probably 80 photos of us with detailed descriptions of all our meetings, receipts, etc. (probably overkill but I wanted it well frontloaded with info). It crossed my mind that maybe others who quickly receive NVC case numbers have smaller packets/info (maybe a few pictures -- so scanning them is easy for the NVC staff), but if you have a large file, maybe it takes them a while? Maybe someone looks at it and (in lazy fashion) says "Ugh this is a huge one...i'll do it later"...etc? I could see that being a possibility.

Just curious if yours was a large packet of info?

Umm I think mine was less than an inch thick lol. For evidence, I provided like 10 pictures with basic captions and copies of all my flight booking confirmations and boarding passes which made up the bulk of it. And just a couple of random screenshots from skype. I still ended up getting my approval several weeks later than most people with my NOA1 date (5/16/2017).

I could see that being a variable though among other things.

I don’t think so because my case file is super slim. There’s just the required documents and we only sent like 2-3 things proving having met in the last two years and around 4-5 photos. Lawyer was the one who told us keep it simple. I’m still here waiting for a case number.

I thought you had a case number ? Oh no! Sorry I’m slow at seeing that :-( well as I say I still have this famous case number and so far it has proved to do nothing for me lol. I’ll keep ya posted if mine gets mailed out in the next week

No, not yet. They said it’s there but no case number. I just don’t get how long it takes a computer to generate a frakking case number. What kind of computers do they use at NVC?!?!

Once again we called the NVC hoping they got our case there...

We are not even surprised they still don't have it...

Today is officially 6 weeks !!! And this is the 2nd time we are waiting 6 weeks...

Then she said "what do you mean 6 weeks?" Then my fiancee said that all of her coworkers were saying to wait "6weeks" and the woman said it is not always happening that way and we should wait one more week.

On the top of the wait, NVC employees are rude. We have been waiting since September... when will the nightmare be over ?

We are stuck waiting for the congress person to do something until the 22nd and waiting for a reply from NVC Research.

This level of incompetence is incomprehensible...

Just be glad they received it... we have waited since September.

I am sure you will have your number sooner than our case is received.

Sheesh. There’s definitely an issue there. What did they say happened?

You have been waiting more than 6 weeks though. How is it that it’s 6 weeks today? That doesn’t make sense.

Can I just ask you how you were able to book an interview before the embassy got your case?

I just booked it online in the ustraveldocs website. As long as you have paid the visa fee you can schedule your interview. Not sure if all consulate have the same process. You can check your consulate website
