Just got off the phone with NVC and no case number yet (Nov 21 approval). Getting anxious because of that email I got about it still being at CSC and other people with later approval dates already having case numbers.

Did they at least tell you if it’s been received yet?

I received this email

The invoice I.D. number for visa petition SDO2018xxxxxx is: xxxxxxxxx.

The beneficiary I.D. number for xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx is xxxxxxxx.

You will be notified once this case is forwarded to the assigned US Embassy/Consulate General.

what does it means?

Congrats. That means you have your case number and can now check ceac to see when it gets to the embassy, schedule interview and medical.

Yes, they told me that it was received on the 11th. And USCIS told my fiance it was mailed on the 5th. But then I got an email yesterday from nvcresearch saying it was still at CSC. Hopefully that was just an error.

That’s actually wrong. K1 does not get processed at NVC. It stays there for just a few days. No one here will be able to tell you how to proceed. You need to post at the right forum.

I wish! Mines been there since the 11th jan! Hoping it get posted off soon I have my case number etc! Not that it matters as I still have to do transfer request to a different embassy as USCIS were obviously oblivious to the recorded letter we sent in AUGUST requesting that change and NVC say by the time they get our email it will be too late and sent off to Paris instead of London!

Yeah, NVC Research seems to be sending crazy emails out and about to K1 filers. I and another poster on here got the same email saying that our case was received and ready to accept fees, forms, documents. When in reality K1 filers don’t do any of that at NVC. I called NVC all day today and someone finally told me to disregard that email that it was sent by mistake.

If NVC says they have your file, my guess is your email was a mistake too.

Right! Me too, but yeah. I was just pointing out that the normal is that we don’t stay that much because we don’t get processed there.

I should have asked her about it on the phone, maybe I'll call back again and confirm. It hasn't even been a week since they said they got it but I've lost all my patience from the USCIS wait lol. Hopefully some progress will be made this week.

As explained above, k1 does not get anything at NVC. No processing no sending documents nothing. We just past through it to get our individual numbers for our embassies. It is normally a 3 day trip.

These se people are not stuck in NVC, their cases are stuck in USCIS. Waiting to be sent to NVC

for the correct topic: go to the home page for the forum and find the one suits you cause I believe that case is a little different than both spouse visa and fiancé visa. Family visas work a lot different than any of these.

thank you!

I'm on the same dates as you and same situation; 11/21 NOA2; ours arrived at NVC on 01/11; and we are also Canada! Our packet must literally be next to yours, lol. I called a couple hours ago and still no case number. Its definitely strange because others who arrived on NVC on 01/11 and -even- some on 01/12 received their case numbers already. Based on all my research on timelines on here it's kind of normal for that to happen. Some people get lucky and get it right away, and then wait a week for the NVC to ship it. Or it ships right away. Others like you and I may wait a week for our case number, and then it'll ship the next day, or something. Kind of all over the place.

On the plus side, NVC did tell me that Canada K1 petitions are all done electronically, so they are "shipped" (electronically) immediately after the case number. Hope that's true.

Same here. Every step it takes it’s supposed to be faster a little but then it’s just slow I’m so sick of it. NVC is taffed and answering phones until midnight so you can call and ask still.

Same here. Even people got to NVC today are getting case numbers today. This process has no order. I did NVC about how they ship them out they said they do it both ways electronically and snail mail to every embassy.

Who knows, maybe we'll end up getting the same interview date lol. I've also heard about them sending the cases electronically. I hope you hear back soon, keep us updated!

Haha that's a very good possibility! Should be interesting if ours kind of matches up since the NOA2, NVC receive date, etc. are the same.

One thing I was thinking...is your packet huge (like a lot of documents/photos/etc.)? Cause the NVC told me they have to scan everything into their system. The package I sent USCIS back in May with all our docs was large, like an inch or so thick with probably 80 photos of us with detailed descriptions of all our meetings, receipts, etc. (probably overkill but I wanted it well frontloaded with info). It crossed my mind that maybe others who quickly receive NVC case numbers have smaller packets/info (maybe a few pictures -- so scanning them is easy for the NVC staff), but if you have a large file, maybe it takes them a while? Maybe someone looks at it and (in lazy fashion) says "Ugh this is a huge one...i'll do it later"...etc? I could see that being a possibility.

Just curious if yours was a large packet of info?
