Thank you so much for this response and it makes sense. My fiance is from what's considered to be a"high risk" country so I can understand the investigating. I fell much better now, thank you. Oh one more thing, should we pay the visa fee before getting notification from NVC about the AP?

No you have to wait for the case to be sent to the embassy and then they will tell you what to do specific to your country . So just wait for the letter or email your fiancé will get from his or her embassy of choice and follow what they say . Good luck :-) any help let me know . I’ve had 5 or 6 friends go thru this in the few years and helped them out also. My dad also works in immigration so knows most stuff about the k1 process but that’s for the uk

My husband is an US citizen and he applied for his daughter who is not 21 yet and leaves outside of US. I understand this topic is mainly for fiance or husband and wife, but I couldnt find one specifically for our kind of visa and I believe the process is pretty similar. Please, correct me if I am wrong.

Anyway, my question right now is after the process stayed a year in the USCIS office (he started it as a green card holder), finally it got to NVC on Dec 28, he has called several times the NVC and they just  keep saying they got the case, but they havent set a case number yet. REALLY??? almost 3 weeks later? Is that right?  anybody else seeing the same thing? I am sorry about my frustration as I know so many of you feel the same for different reasons. Thank you in advance and good luck to everyone who is trying to do the right thing.

The process at NVC of k1 and other visas are extremely different. No one can give you information here for what you're asking. You should go to the related forum and try asking there.

A couple of weeks at the most.

I found out mine was physically mailed out on December 10 and didn’t get to the national Visa Center in until January 8. When my Congress representative contacted the national Visa Center, they could not explain why it took a month for them to receive the paperwork but they did state they had our application.

I am sorry, but I have been following this forum since my husband started in October 2016 with USCIS (October filers) and it looked really similar to me, the time it was approved and the time NVC got it too (my husband went through the k1 process as well 10 years ago). Anyway, since you said they are extremely different, could you please tell me how? Or maybe help telling me which forum I could get help with my question. I would love to find it. Thank you again!

Just got off the phone with NVC and no case number yet (Nov 21 approval). Getting anxious because of that email I got about it still being at CSC and other people with later approval dates already having case numbers.

That’s actually wrong. K1 does not get processed at NVC. It stays there for just a few days. No one here will be able to tell you how to proceed. You need to post at the right forum.

As explained above, k1 does not get anything at NVC. No processing no sending documents nothing. We just past through it to get our individual numbers for our embassies. It is normally a 3 day trip.

These se people are not stuck in NVC, their cases are stuck in USCIS. Waiting to be sent to NVC

for the correct topic: go to the home page for the forum and find the one suits you cause I believe that case is a little different than both spouse visa and fiancé visa. Family visas work a lot different than any of these.
