Welcome to the VJ website, also known as The Waiting Club :P

So sorry to hear about the mix-up with your paperwork! How agonizing that must be...but hopefully there's light at the end of the tunnel soon.

The NVC is only just beginning to receive cases with NOA2 dates starting from the end of November. In fact there are people still waiting from earlier in November. But, over the next week/couple of weeks, we should start seeing them receiving cases from beginning of December and onwards.

Now that your NOA2 is more than 30 days old,  if you like, you could start calling them to see if they have received your case.

Look here for instructions about how/when to contact them: https://sites.google.com/view/post-noa2/home

Also, you can find information and rough estimates on the spreadsheet linked below... please, please add yourself and your information to it so that we all get a clearer picture of how long the wait is:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1k57PdywNRpUqytomJxMzz6_7DsMqpi52DgnaYt9FyC8/edit#gid=2061710905

And please, please fill out your timeline so that your data will help others understand what's going on.

Thank you for joining us and best wishes to you for a speedy reunion with your loved one. :)

Thank you for your answer.

The fact is that I accept easily than we have to wait for receiving our cases and we are totally aware of it.

The fact is that we received the "real" NOA2 on September 19....

But they unfortunately messed up and so this is why we have a second NOA2 on December 6....

So in total since our original NOA2 it's been almost 12 weeks... very frustrating.

Even if i know waiting is the only option for now....

We put our name on the spreadsheet - Deborah & Joel.

I will actualize our timeline :)

My fiance called nvc and they gave us our case number what to do next... Thanks in advance

At NVC they give your petition new case number and forward it to US embassy of your choice for final processing. I suggest reading  your country US embassy site for further instructions. Your status here https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx should be “in transit” or “ready”. After US embassy receives the petition they will send you necessary information by mail.

Generally as a beneficiary you need to fill form DS-160, pay MRV fee to be able to schedule an interview. 2 weeks before your interview you should have done medicals by a panel physician listed by your embassy. Each country might be a bit different so that’s why I suggest reading informations at the US embassy site or wait for your letter! Good luck!

Guys, I have a question. Why is it when we enter our case number in NVC's CEAC status checker we have to select "Immigrant Visa Case Number" when the K1 is a non-immigrant visa and have to complete a DS-160?

Don't worry that while checkin on CEAC staus its uder immigrant visas, technically speaking K-1 Visa is non-immigrant bcs after 90 days without marriage you should leave US ;) Even at embassy sites they give you infomration about fiance visas under immigrant visas section but the only correct form to file is DS-160, you will need printed confirmation of filling DS-160 for the interview

lol sorry, huge typo there! ^_^ They got it DEC 28th.  After it being approved November 3rd. I called the NVC from my home country on the 5th of Jan, got through within 10 mins and the nice lady gave me my case# and said my package would leave asap. It left 3 days later :) The consulate received it the next day. (I checked the ceac site) I was surprised how quickly they got it. I was super excited I went ahead and filled the ds-160 that night. The next day I got an email from the consulate saying: The U.S. Embassy in SYDNEY, ASTL approved your request for expedited processing of your immigrant visa application. The National Visa Center sent your petition to this U.S. Embassy for their action. The Embassy will contact you soon to schedule a visa interview.

But they didn't contact me. My fiance got an email with instructions for me to complete THEN they would contact me to schedule an appointment after I emailed them what they asked for.  This was in the email:

Dear K Visa Petitioner,

The U.S. Consulate General in Sydney has received your approved petition.

Your fiancée will need to create a profile via USTravelDocs, please ensure that they complete the delivery address details in the profile to ensure that documents will be returned to the correct address. Please then email our office providing the following information:

1)      Name:

2)      Case number (begins with SYD):

3)      Email address:

4)      Online Nonimmigrant Visa application (DS-160):

o   DS-160 confirmation number

o   You MUST select SYDNEY as your place of interview

5)      MRV Fee receipt for K Visa applicants (USD265.00):

An interview will not be scheduled until we see that this fee has been paid. You may pay the fee;

o   Online payment with a credit card

Via your USTravelDocs profile

o   Australia Payment in Person at Australia Post

You will be required to scan and email a copy of the receipt with the above documents.

Note: you will also need to bring the original receipt to your interview. There is no other way to verify this payment other than the original receipt.

After I emailed them they got back to me the next day with my appointment time and date. I didn't choose it (even tho I asked for February I also booked my medical 10 days before my interview. The Dr was fully booked out and that worried me, so i picked the next available date. It turned out ok :) Hope this is helpful!

It was really helpful!! Thank you so much! Good luck with everything!!

Hmmmm, I just got this email from NVC but it doesn’t list a case number. And when I called last night they said they didn’t have a number for me yet. I’ve never heard anyone on here getting an email like this. This also doesn’t sound like an email about K1. Has anyone seen this before?

Dear Sir/Madam:

The National Visa Center (NVC) received your inquiry and is ready to accept fees, documents, and forms in support of this immigrant visa application. We will send detailed instructions to the petitioner, principal applicant, and/or attorney of record soon.

Please keep in mind for future inquiries that you will need to provide all of the following information with each e-mail or telephone inquiry. That way, we can provide you with a detailed response:

Name of the person submitting the inquiry,

NVC case number or USCIS receipt number,

Petitioner's name, and

Principal Applicant's name and date of birth.

NOTE: If the petition is employment-based (I-140), include the employer's company/organization name.

You may need to provide some more evidence or something is missing and they will want that sending to them before it’s issied and processed . Or it’s just a mistake email and they will give you your case number next week when they re-open. Don’t worry it’s at NVC now communication is a little easier than that if the USCIS !

It looks more like a mistake to me because it says it’s ready to accept fees and K1s don’t pay fees at NVC

Woohoo, would be happy to see some movement. Our case was approved November 24th. They said 6 weeks. Currently now at the 51 day mark/7+ weeks. Each time I call the NVC (no case received) ugh! I emailed the NVC research teams and the email they sent back :

Dear Sir/Madam:

The National Visa Center received your inquiry and the attached I-797 Notice of Action - Approval Notice. Unfortunately we do not have a record of receiving your approved petition from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

NVC will work with USCIS to determine the location of your petition. We will let you know when we have more information. You do not need to take any action at this time. Thank you for your patience as we work with USCIS to ensure your case is moving forward.

Can only hope that this week when I call they have some news :)

Prayers with everyone else in the same boat!

I would strongly suggest calling Tuesday morning and speaking to the national Visa Center to make sure that they have put in a request with USCIS

Like, make sure they actually follow through with it and didn’t just send you a letter.

They need to actually submit an inquiry. Ask for a service number or something that shows they contacted USCIS.

The email does lack any real answer to the enquiry. However, I am sure they will work to get the information.

I wonder what the the real reason for the delay is...

I hope you and the others from our group that had  paperwork mistakenly sent to the NRC get  case numbers soon.  If you have already received an email from the CSC, you can reply to it and they will answer.  If you haven't emailed the CSC, do that soon. Explain to them that you've had two NOA2's and your paperwork has not been mailed since 9/19.

The congress people told us to not contact the USCIS because it could cause delays... so supposely we have to wait to the 22nd of January according to the congress people. We are so conflicted because we are not seeing results. Of course you waited a long time so you understand this pain and frustration.

Completely speaking for myself only... be as proactive as you can and DEFINITELY call USCIS.

If you are past all of the waiting periods (ie, 6weeks from USCIS to NOA2, etc) you must be your own advocate and continue to question and inquire until you get answers.

Because the 22nd is so close, it is up to you if you wasn’t to inquire earlier but I would absolutely call on the 22nd.

Good Luck to you and your ❤️
